Contents are complete, however please note that the title leaf is immediately followed by the final leaf (pp. 41), the remaining text is continuous through to pp. 40. The binding is holding firmly and is in good condition, it is very slightly loose to the binding only. Some general wear to surface / extremities from handling, corners bumped/creased throughout. Contents are holding firmly and are generally in good clean condition if toned, with some light scattered foxing, browning/ dust marking to edges though nothing too disfiguring. A decent copy overall retaining period plain end papers, with 18th century bookplate of William Parsons. Collation: [2], 41, [1], 3-6, 40. pp, with title vignette and large folding map bound at rear (at pp.40).

Petroschise, with episcopal coat-of-arms of Fern. Spinellio. Detailed description of the place where remnants of the country house of the Latin poet Quintus Horatius Flaccus (65 BC - 8 BC) were discovered. The author, Domenico De Sanctis, born in the neighbourhood, gives information from various sources and illustrates the work with a fine engraved map
