The Civil Costume of England, from the Conquest to the Present Time. Drawn From Tapestries, Monumental Effigies, Illuminated Manuscripts, Portraits &c. Etched by Leopold Martin.

London: Henry G Bohn, 1842. First edition. Original red blind stamped boards with a new red leather spine and gilt titles. 61 engraved plates (uncoloured). Complete. The text is lacking the second page of the plate listings to the front of the book. (please note - this item has the complete 61 plates, but does NOT contain the continuation with the 23 etchings of the ancients). COLAS 1995. LIPPERHEIDE 1003.
The original boards are sound, but a little darkened to the edges, and with a touch of marking to them. The spine is immaculate. Inside, the plates are in good, clean condition, with a touch of darkening to the edges. The odd spot to them only. The text pages and title are darkened and have a few slight nicks and closed tears to the edges. As noted, the second page of the plate listing is lacking. Overall a decent copy of this work.
