The Wykehamist The College Magazine of Winchester College. no. 507 (October 1912) - no 566 (July 1917)
Winchester: P.G.Wells, 1917. Original blue buckram with gilt titles and armorial crest. Bearing the motto "Manners maketh man" this bound collections of the college magazine charts the progress of Winchester College from a playground of the elite in 1912, to a training ground for the war dead by 1917. With an English understated style, cricket reports sit alongside the Honour Roll, and lists of VC's and other medals give to college alumni. As the war progresses, the obituaries and list of casualties mount. A particularly tragic collection of school magazines. Attractive full page engraving of the chapel and a supplement with photographs of the Wiltshire Yeomanry in college.
56-480, 1-166 pages 290 by 240mm (11½ by 9½ inches).
Condition: Cover is clean and tidy with just a fractional handling. The contents are mainly clean and bright, with a little foxing, mainly to the page edges.
