The Diary of a Nobody With illustrations by Weedon Grossmith

Bristol: J. W. Arrowsmith, 1892. First edition in book-form, first impression, first issue with the terminal leaves used as pastedowns and no blank leaf at the front. The Diary of a Nobody, one of the great achievements of Victorian comic fiction, was first serialized in Punch from 1888 to 1889, before being published in the present book-form in 1892 with new material and added illustrations. Original cloth, with decorations and titles. Very slight rubbing only. A touch of handling and bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Inside this is a clean and tidy copy. A little foxing to the end papers only. One gather (ends p 158) is rather loose, but still holding. Vol. XI in Arrowsmith's 3/6 series and the list on final leaf finishes with Vol. X, Fergus Hume's When I Lived in Bohemia. viii,[5],14-300,[2]. pp. 190 by 130mm (7½ by 5 inches).
