Programme Gala de l'Enfance - Cirque de Paris Samedi 7 Janvier 1922
Paris: Maison Devambez, 1922. Programme for a gala event in aid of the charity Dispensaire "Goutte de Lait". Colourful card cover with an illustration of a juggler drawn by SEM aka Georges Goursat (1863–1934). Tied with original cord at spine. 4 pages showing the programme of performances and events on the night of the circus Gala, and those involved or performing. 280 x 210 mm (11 x 8¼ inches). Dispensaire "Goutte de Lait" was a French organisation created to distribute sterilised milk to mothers who were unable to breastfeed their child, and to provide maternal education regarding childcare and hygiene. It was created in 1894, but no longer exists today.
Performances included: the vaudeville star Lyse Berty and her famous thoroughbred horse 'Sydney', Mlle Spinelli and her dancer Faraboni, acrobats, jugglers, stunt riders, skits by comedians, a full orchestra, and the wonderful Danish clowns Les Frères Miehe.
Condition: Covers slightly toned / handled. Overall in a very good condition.
