The Chicago Zoological Park - at Brookfield, Illinois
Chicago Zoological Society. Circa 1940. Lovely colour map of the zoo, with such wonderful details as visitors picnicking, elephants bathing, kangaroos boxing, and even someone changing a flat on their car in the car park! Delightful.
Measures: 405 x 555 mm (16 x 21¾ inches).
The map is in a very good clean condition. It has been stored with a fold through the middle. One small tear at the left outer edge. Blank verso.
In the late 1930s, Ralph W. Graham created all manner of works for the city of Chicago. He was also a gifted photographer, and after WWII became Brookfield Zoo's assistant director, and searched worldwide for animals to expand the zoo's collection.
