Allegory of the History of England. With a portrait of Isaac de Larrey
1713. Engraving taken from Isaac de Larrey's Histoire d'Angleterre. Designed by B. Picart and engraved by Gouwen. Shows the Thames and London Bridge, as well as mythological figures, including Britannia, leaning on the shield of the Union - only formed 6 years before this engraving - alongside a lion. A little darkening to the leaf, and a small tear to the right edge, but overall in very good condition. 400 x 260 mm (15¾ x 10¼ inches).
