8 hand-coloured lithographs from Costumes Histoire et des Orders Religieux
Brusselles: Librairie Historique-Artistic, 1845. A collection of eight hand coloured lithographs by Duverger and Clerman after Jacques Charles Bar's illustrations. This set are from a Spanish edition. There is no text other than the titles (In french / Spanish / Latin), but the 8 plates are each under home made passe-partout. The lithographs comprise both members of the Religious and members of the Catholic Chivalric orders: An Archbishop; A Jesuit; A Carthusian nun in ceremonial dress, A Chierigo Minor; gran croce dele ordine di Carlo III (A member of the Order of the Grand Cross of Charles III; A cavalier of the Order of Calatrava; An Alejano / Alexien; A Religious from the Order of the Visitation. The plates have some edgewear / chipping and creasing to the edges, but this is hidden by the passe partout. The lithographed sheets are 270 by 185mm (10¾ by 7¼ inches). The passe partout is 300mm x 240mm.
