The World in Miniature; England, Scotland, and Ireland; Containing a description of the character, manners, customs, dress, diversions and other peculiarities of the inhabitants of Great Britain. In Four Volumes.
London: R. Ackermann, 1827. Four volumes. Hardback. Original blue paper covered boards (interim bindings), with yellow paper labels to spines. Boards a little stained and rubbed. Complete with all 81 colour engraved costume plates. Although the title pages state 84 plates, in fact the Errata and plate index show that the Chelsea Pensioner and the Greenwich Pensioner are on a single plate, elsewhere the Fisherwoman and the Dustman are on the same plate, and the plate of the Dr of Music is listed twice. So in fact there are 81 plates and the work is complete. Some light foxing to the margins. A little splitting to the binding of Volume 2. Overall a very nice copy.
