Keedle. Drawings by Fred L. Fox

New York: Hillman-Curl Inc, 1940. First Edition. Hardback illustrated boards. Boards are a little rubbed and age toned; but overall good. This strange book was written in 1940 in hope that the world could overcome his dictatorship. It's a very simple story - told in illustrated children's book form - of Keedle, who is a sad, and sadistic, little boy who looks a lot like Hitler! Keedle, however, represents more than Hitler; he represents all bullies - both then and now. This book attempts to use very simple satire to ridicule authoritarian regimes. Signed dedication by Deidre Conselman to front, dated December 7, 1939. Otherwise, very clean, fresh, and unmarked inside. 55 pages. 260 x 220 mm (10¼ x 8¾ inches).
