London: Alfred W. Bennett, 1864. Small brown embossed boards, with gilt titles to front. Inside, clean and with engraved frontispiece. Always a temperance supporter, during the mid 19th century Elihu Burritt toured New England speaking against war and promoting brotherhood. In 1844 he founded 'The Advocate of Peace' in Worcester, Massachusetts, as the head of a group of radical pacifists. [2], xii, 2-106 pp. 180 x 110 mm (7 x 4¼ inches).
