It has been speculated that Ian Fleming may have partially used Maclean as one of the characters to base the spy James Bond upon. First Edition. Hardback red cloth boards, with gilt title to spine. Has the name Eddy Gilmore, Moscow written in the front - dated 1949. Probably Eddy Gilmore - the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist. Who would have been in Moscow at the same time as the book was published. 543 pages. 200 x 140 mm (7¾ x 5½ inches).
