This thirteenth, was a mythical place "A new kind of matrimonial district, invented for the use of superior intelligences who set themselves above vulgar formalities (...). A true Proteus in matters of political domicile, the 13th arrondissement has neither defined borders nor a fixed residence (...)" Hardback black binding, with label and gilt titles to the spine. In good, fractionally rubbed condition. Provenance: from the collection of the Parisian bibliophile Paul Lacombe (1848-1921) with his bookplate engraved by François Courboin (1865-1926). Internally in good clean condition, with a little darkening to the pages only. 500 pages. 12cm x 7.5cm.
