Special issue of the magazine Chantecler in homage to Georges Merry, songwriter and resistance fighter, who died in after being deported during the occupation. A lovely collection of prose, poems and satire, each accompanied by a very art deco portrait of the author by the caricaturist Lebon. Blue felt covers embossed with silver text. Generally in very good, clean condition, but with rubbing and felt loss to the top edge of the rear cover. There is a faux wax seal (on plastic) attached to a velvet tab which hangs from the volume. Internally clean and attractive throughout. A very stylised Art Deco work full of Lebon's striking portraits. Offsetting / browning to the contents page, Otherwise clean and tidy throughout. Much of the material is dealing with the second world war and the occupation. 50 pages. 34.5cm x 27cm. André Lebon (1918-1996) was a French caricaturist and journalist. He became known primarily for his caricatures of theatre actors and political personalities.

Couverture en feutre bleu estampée d'un texte argenté. Dans l'ensemble, en très bon état, propre, mais avec des frottements et une perte de feutre sur le bord supérieur de la couverture arrière. Un faux sceau de cire (sur plastique) est attaché à une languette de velours qui pend du volume. Intérieur propre et attrayant dans l'ensemble. Une œuvre Art déco très stylisée, remplie des portraits saisissants de Lebon. Décoloration / brunissement de la page de contenu, sinon propre et soigné dans l'ensemble.
