29cm x 37.5cm Has had crude repairs to the edges, some staining to the edges and a small hole to the left edge (not affecting image.) Different versions of this image (with couples fighting over the trousers) appeared by different publishers from 1820 until the early twentieth century. Despite this, it is a scarce and ephemeral caricature item, and there are no copies available at the time of listing

France: N/A, 1875. A beautiful example of a mid to late Nineteenth Century hand painted fan. The frame is in pierced and gilded mother-of-pearl. The leaf is in either very thin vellum or paper. It is painted in gouache to each side. One one side is a female sat upon a gild throne surrounded by hand maidens and cherubs. To the other is an alpine scene of a village and villagers. Both are edged by gilt and decoration. The frame shows evidence of repair to the two outside pieces (see photographs). Steel and Rhinestone rivet to the frame. A lovely example of Nineteenth Century ladies attire. Length 27 cm. Open width is approximately 45 cm. There are a couple of small tears to the paper of the fan, but not affecting the images. The fan comes in its original cardboard and green velvet covered box. This is a little split to the edges and with some edgewear, but still a scarce item to find alongside the fan.

Elle est peinte à la gouache de chaque côté. D'un côté, une femme est assise sur un trône doré, entourée de servantes et de chérubins. De l'autre côté, une scène alpine avec un village et des villageois. Les deux sont bordés de dorures et de décorations. Le cadre présente des traces de réparation sur les deux pièces extérieures (voir photographies). Le cadre est orné d'un rivet en acier et en strass. Un bel exemple de tenue féminine du XIXe siècle. Longueur : 27 cm. La largeur ouverte est d'environ 45 cm. Il y a quelques petites déchirures sur le papier de l'éventail, qui n'affectent pas les images. L'éventail est livré dans sa boîte d'origine en carton et couverte de velours vert. Celle-ci est un peu fendue sur les bords et présente quelques traces d'usure, mais il s'agit d'un objet rare à trouver avec l'éventail.

London: Leadlay Ltd, 1931. Portfolio with original quarter vellum over gilt lettered grey boards. Small certificate of limitation pasted to the inside front board. Grey flaps hold loose card inserts. These comprise: a title sheet; a contents sheet; Note by Beerbohm, which is a facsimile hand written note on laid paper, tipped into grey card folder; 5 portraits by Beerbohm tipped into grey card folders. Subjects are Mr. Noel Coward, Miss Peggy Wood, Mr. Georges Metaxa, Miss Ivy St. Helier, and Mr. Charles B. Cochran. The vellum and boards have light markings to them, and a little bumping, but still very presentable. The grey folders have a touch of darkening to them. The tipped in illustrations are immaculate. 410 x 295 mm (16¼ x 11½ inches) Portefeuille avec quart de vélin d'origine sur des planches grises à lettres dorées. Un petit certificat de limitation est collé à l'intérieur de la première planche. Les rabats gris contiennent des encarts cartonnés détachés. Ceux-ci comprennent : un feuillet de titre ; un feuillet de contenu ; une note de Beerbohm, qui est un fac-similé d'une note manuscrite sur papier vergé, insérée dans une chemise de carte grise ; 5 portraits de Beerbohm insérés dans des chemises de carte grise. Attractive, clean engraving, with a crease / fold to the middle of the plate, otherwise in excellent condition. Nice clean engraving. No significant damage. Engraved area is 25cm x 34cm. Sheet is 43cm x 51cm. This is also a lovely example of children's games in the early 18th Century, with at least six different games being pictured. A lovely print. This is an original engraving from 1726, not a reproduction

. Vue de l'orphelinat luthérien, tirée de l'ouvrage de Kaspar Commelin "Beschryvinge van Amsterdam". Gravure attrayante et propre, avec un pli au milieu de la plaque, autrement en excellente condition. Belle gravure propre. Pas de dommages significatifs. La surface gravée est de 25cm x 34cm. La feuille mesure 43 cm x 51 cm. Il s'agit également d'un bel exemple de jeux d'enfants au début du XVIIIe siècle, avec au moins six jeux différents représentés. Une belle gravure. Il s'agit d'une gravure originale de 1726, et non d'une reproduction.

The portfolio is stained and the burgundy cloth to the spine is splitting. Foxing inside. The bottom flap is also splitting but holding. The seven volumes are of differing edition and the covers in differing condition. Captions in English, German and Dutch. Raemaekers (1869 – 1956) became widely known as a political cartoonist during the First World War, first with his prints in De Telegraaf, later for the publications he made for the British propaganda agency Wellington House. After his death in July 1956 an obituary appeared in The Times: "It has been said that Louis Raemaekers was the only private individual who exerted a real and great influence on the course of the First World War. There were a dozen people—emperors, kings, statesmen, and military leaders—who unquestionably shaped policy and were in charge. But outside that circle of greats, Louis Raemaekers was the only man who, without title or status – and without any doubt – determined the destiny of the nations."
