Edinburgh: 1821. A hand coloured map, taken from Thomson's "New General Atlas". This shows North Africa (including the whole of the Sahara and West Africa). As well as the hand coloured detail, the map shows the routes of Mr Browne, Mr Horneman, Mr Bruce and Mr Parks. Originally this map was paired in a double page, folio atlas with a similar map for South Africa (not present). 280 x 515 mm (11 x 20¼ inches).
Condition: This map is in lovely condition. Clean and tidy with a little edgewear / nicking to the edges only (not affecting detail). The colour is clean and bright.

Berlin: Robinson-Verlag, 1964. First Edition. This is chiefly illustrations (some colour). Robinson's book of ink drawings that show New York City's skyline and neighbourhoods in intense detail. He described it as "an X-ray" style that showed the city's buildings from outside and inside. This is the first edition (seems to be self published), with text and captions in both English and German. The book is unpaginated.

Nightingale: The Story Since 1840.
Tymsder Publishing, 2001. First edition in dust jacket. In the 1820's and '30s the London Jewish community was distressed by the number of destitute Jews living on the streets or in the workhouses. To deal with the problem groups of Jewish East Enders established three charities that later merged and became 'Nightingale'. Marcus Roberts is a researcher in to Anglo-Jewish history, and has been widely published. 112 pp. 250 x 180 mm (9¾ x 7 inches).
Fine dust jacket and fine book. This copy bears the following dedication to the FFEP: Presented to Ms Fay Weldon CBE by Nightingale at the Guildhall Dinner 22nd October 2001.

Image area is 11.7cm x 47.5cm. Sheet is 14cm x 55cm. Two sheets attached to verso. To the rear of one sheet is half a page of text. Slightly dusty but very presentable copy, with bright colouring. Shows the tower and other significant landmarks. Countryside around and figures standing to the foreground.
