Anti-American photographs, depicting the USA as degenerate, full of poverty, unemployment, alcohol and sex, etc. Roosevelt is particularly mocked, and portrayed as getting the war he wanted. Reproductions of Dorothea Lange "Migrant Mother" and other documentary photos. The scarce dust wrapper (depicting a man stroking a showgirl on stage) is present, but in a bad way! Spine is almost entirely missing, and is held together by tape. Pale card boards with owner's bookplate to the front board. Text in German. Unpaginated. 250 by 180mm (9¾ by 7 inches).

    Johann van den Honert was an 18th-century Dutch theologian who was one of the most important Protestant reformers in the Netherlands. Honert was a supporter of orthodox Calvinism LXVI, 342, [8], 390 + map 260 by 210mm (10¼ by 8¼ inches).

    1865. Fabulous decorative gilt and black ruled red cloth album. Comprising 40 leaves with around 600 intricate cut-outs of commemorative cards and images. Many of these are from early Christmas cards and winter themes - mostly English text. Includes some fabulous flowers, birds, butterflies, traditional dress / costumes and caricatures - mostly French text. All beautifully cut out, then thoughtfully and carefully assembled. One or two are dated. Including an advertising postcard (possibly once perfumed) for Rimmel, dated 1865. Therefore, we assume it was created during the period 1860 - 1875. Boards are bumped on corners but otherwise the gilt clean and bright. Endpapers are toned / lightly foxed. Il s'agit d'une traduction française, par J. Martinet, des mémoires de la vie publique notoire et de la vie privée colorée de feu le très honorable Charles-James Fox. La colonne vertébrale montre très peu de signes d'usure et les planches sont juste un peu éraflées. A l'intérieur, les pages sont toniques, notamment vers le recto. Preuve d'un petit ex-libris ayant été retiré de l'encollage avant.

    Charles-James Fox (1749-1806), était un éminent homme d'État britannique dont les opinions en faveur de la guerre d'indépendance américaine sont devenues parmi les plus radicales jamais exprimées au Parlement de son époque.

    La carrière parlementaire de Fox a duré 38 ans à la fin du XVIIIe et au début du XIXe siècle, et il était le grand rival de William Pitt le Jeune.

    Original etching on thick laid paper. Circa 1885. Signed in the plate. Sold unframed. Nice deep impression. From Slocombe's Views on the Thames series. This is plate No. 3, a view from what is now known as Cliveden, near Taplow in Berkshire. Frederick Slocombe was a British artist who painted landscapes and coastal scenes, but is better known for his work as an etcher. His landscapes convey the characteristic serene atmosphere of the English countryside. Has two eye holes in the outer margin at the top - assume where once displayed in a book / file.
