These are significantly rubbed - particularly the front board, which has an area of surface loss. Binding is holding very well though. First blank end paper has silverfish damage. The rest of the book is in good, clean condition, with a little darkening to the pages and a touch of marking to the top edge (not affecting text). The folding plates are pretty good condition, with a touch of darkening / bumping to the edges. A few small closed tears to the edges of some plates only. Overall a decent copy of a scarce first edition. French architectural writings…

He was a Legitimist politician, was one of the 40 maintainers of the Jeux Floraux (The Floral Games were instituted in 1323 in Toulouse by seven troubadours to maintain courtly lyricism. It is the world's oldest Poetry / Literary society). xxxii, 360 pages. 11 folded leaves of plates. Conforms to FirstSearch / OCLC: 21787714. 200 by 125mm (7¾ by 5 inches).

    . Première édition. Complet, avec 11 planches gravées dépliantes. Dos en cuir contemporain avec titres dorés. Planches cartonnées. Celles-ci sont considérablement frottées - en particulier la première planche, qui présente une zone de perte de surface. La reliure tient cependant très bien. Le premier feuillet blanc de la fin de l'ouvrage est endommagé par un poisson d'argent. Le reste de l'ouvrage est en bon état, propre, avec un léger assombrissement des pages et une légère marque sur le bord supérieur (n'affectant pas le texte). Les planches dépliantes sont en assez bon état, avec un peu de noircissement et de bosses sur les bords. Quelques petites déchirures fermées sur les bords de certaines planches seulement. Dans l'ensemble, un bon exemplaire d'une première édition rare. Ecrits architecturaux français du 16ème au 19ème siècle. Armand Joseph Marie de Saint-Félix (1794-1866), marquis de Mauremont et comte de Cajarc. Homme politique légitimiste, il fut l'un des 40 mainteneurs des Jeux Floraux institués en 1323 à Toulouse par sept troubadours pour maintenir le lyrisme de cour. Together with a printed and embossed certificate from the college. The sheets comprise: "Tuscan Order Cap and Entablature" Nov. 1899; "Doric Order Pedestal and Base" Nov. 1899; "Doric Order Capital and Entablature" Dec. 1899; "Ionic Order Capital and Entablature" Jan. 1900; "Ionic Order Pedestal and Base" Feb. 1900; "Corinthian Order Capital and Entablature" April 1900; and a "Study of Corinthian Temple" Jan. 1901. Each of the sheets is approximately 49 x 37 cm. They are all in good, clean condition, but some have a little marking / foxing to one edge. A touch of creasing to a couple of corners. All are of an excellent standard, and suitable for framing. The Cooper Union was founded by inventor, industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper, in New York in 1858 (according to certificate, 1859 according to their website) and still exists today. The certificate, with an attractive engraved vignette of the Great Hall of the college. It is signed by both the director and the president of the colledge in ink, and has a blind stamped embossed seal It shows that Ledonne was enrolled in the Free Night School, and presumably in an Architecture School (although this topic was called designing). We can find little about Ledonné. A Frenchman, he was in America between 1899 and 1903, and later returned to France and worked as a draughtsman or architect under the architect Eugené Dr Chifflot (Brother of Jules Léon Chifflot).

Chaque feuille mesure environ 49 x 37 cm. Elles sont toutes en bon état, propres, mais certaines ont un petit marquage / rousseur sur un bord. Elles sont toutes d'un excellent niveau et peuvent être encadrées. La Cooper Union a été fondée par l'inventeur, l'industriel et le philanthrope Peter Cooper à New York en 1858 (d'après le certificat, 1859 d'après leur site web) et existe toujours aujourd'hui. Le certificat comporte une jolie vignette gravée représentant le grand hall de l'établissement. Il est signé à l'encre par le directeur et le président du collège, et porte un sceau estampé à l'aveugle. Il montre que Ledonné était inscrit à la Free Night School, et vraisemblablement à une école d'architecture (bien que ce sujet ait été appelé designing). Nous n'avons que peu d'informations sur Ledonné. Français, il a séjourné aux États-Unis entre 1899 et 1903, puis est rentré en France et a travaillé comme dessinateur ou architecte sous la direction de l'architecte Eugené Dr Chifflot (frère de Jules Léon Chifflot).

(There was a 20th Century uncoloured reproduction but this is without the text). Here we offer five of the plates. Each has the contemporary hand colouring, and is framed and glazed with passe partout and a more recent simple gilt frame. Here the views have a visible area of 47cm x 31cm, beneath a passe partout of 49cm x 59cm, and held within a frame of 53cm x 62cm. The passe partout has a very slight wave to each plate, otherwise they are in fine condition. The five views are: Colonne élevée á L'Empereur Phocas (1826), good clean condition; Temple de Mars-Vengeur (1826) very good clean condition, with a few very light foxing spots to the text area; Vue du Capitole (1827) in excellent clean condition; Vue du Portique d'Octavie (No date), good clean condition; and Vue du Forum Trajan (1828) In excellent condition. This is the only picture which is horizontal rather than vertical. Godefroy Engelmann (1788-1839): Lithographer printer, painter, designer and inventor. From Mulhouse, he was a prolific publisher; Jean-Paul Alaux (1788-1858) from Bordeaux, was a lithographer and painter who specialised in landscape and antique views; Jean-Baptiste-Cicéron Lesueur (1794-1883) was primarily a French architect, but spent some time studying the ancient architecture of Rome and collaborated with Alaux on this project. Conforms to OCLC Number / Unique Identifier: 1061143512. FirstSearch shows only one library with the portfolio.

Le passe-partout présente une très légère ondulation sur chaque plaque, mais les vues sont en très bon état. Les cinq vues sont les suivantes Colonne élevée á L'Empereur Phocas (1826), bon état de conservation ; Temple de Mars-Vengeur (1826) très bon état de conservation, avec quelques très légères rousseurs dans la zone de texte ; Vue du Capitole (1827) en excellent état de conservation ; Vue du Portique d'Octavie (sans date), bon état de conservation ; et Vue du Forum Trajan (1828) en excellent état de conservation. C'est la seule image qui est horizontale plutôt que verticale. Godefroy Engelmann (1788-1839) : Lithographe imprimeur, peintre, dessinateur et inventeur. Originaire de Mulhouse, il fut un éditeur prolifique ; Jean-Paul Alaux (1788-1858), originaire de Bordeaux, était un lithographe et un peintre spécialisé dans les paysages et les vues antiques ; Jean-Baptiste-Cicéron Lesueur (1794-1883) était avant tout un architecte français, mais il a passé du temps à étudier l'architecture antique de Rome et a collaboré avec Alaux sur ce projet. This was a country house in the form of a neo-Gothic chapel built in 1831 for the Dutch-born general Hendryk van Oyen, who previously owned La Gordanne near Perroy. This building was replaced in 1904 by a wealthy villa designed by architects Alphonse Laverrière and Eugène Monod. Here they are dated to the first half of the Nineteenth Century. The house/ chapel was located just outside St Prex, on the Geneva-Lausanne road (now Route de Morges). 9 leaves, printed to recto only. One folding. 350 x 290 mm (13¾ x 11½ inches).

Ce bâtiment a été remplacé en 1904 par une villa cossue conçue par les architectes Alphonse Laverrière et Eugène Monod. Les lithographies et la carte sont en excellent état, avec quelques rousseurs sur les bordures seulement. Les planches sont dessinées d'après nature par Zélie Vachon. Elles sont dessinées par Jean-Jacques Champin (1796 - 1860), et lithographiées par Thierry frères de Paris. Des copies des lithographies sont conservées au Musée d'art et d'histoire de la Ville de Genève. Elles y sont datées de la première moitié du XIXe siècle. In fact, there are a few more, but we have only counted "significant" pages. The paper is a little darkened, and there are a few very minor closed tears to the page edge. The folder has cracking to the spine edge, and is darkened, and at least one of the ties is still functioning. The front has a tipped on printed illustration with the title. Le dossier présente des fissures sur le bord de la colonne vertébrale et est assombri, et au moins une des attaches fonctionne toujours. L'avant a une pointe sur l'illustration imprimée avec le titre. Une pièce attrayante et fascinante. 330 x 255 mm (13 x 10 pouces).
