These copper engravings were created as relief engravings based on those found at the Wiener Hofbibliothek. Four page introduction by Dr. Karl Kloss. The portfolio is in good shape, with some rubbing to edges. Inside, the sheets are clean, and the work is complete; but most of the plates have been slightly folded over at the top edge when the portfolio has not been carefully closed over the years. 295 x 270 mm (11½ x 10¾ inches).

    Munchen / Munich: Friedr. Bruckmann's Verlag, 1890. First edition. A scarce collection of albumen photographs of the Magic Flute in the loggia of the Imperial and Royal Opera House in Vienna. Circa 1890. Held in a folding cover. Cover is ornately decorated to the front and blind embossed to the rear. Clean and tidy with fractional darkening. Inside, the flaps are a pale grey and also blind stamped. Slight marking where a paper clip (now gone) has been holding something. Inside are a title and 12 cards. The title has the the list of photographs to the rear. Albumen photographs are pasted onto the card, printed to recto only. All in excellent condition with just a slight darkening and few minor marks to the title card.

Very nice clean impression of this plate, with good colouring. A very small closed foxing spot to the bottom edge of the plate. Ackermann produced this work between 1807 and 1810. The letters SPG stand for Simon Philip Goudsmit, the founder of the Dutch department store chain 'De Bijenkorf' (The Beehive). Nicolaas Johannes van de Vecht was a Dutch watercolorist, draftsman and lithographer. He was a student at the Arts and Crafts School Quellinus Amsterdam and the State School for Arts and Crafts Amsterdam. In addition to watercolor painting, drawing and lithography, he was a book binding designer.

The photo-book Published in collaboration with Tel Design, Koninklijke Drukkerij GJ Thieme Nijmegen and Kadee Delft. 24 black and white photographs printed on glossy photo paper. To the rear of each are the details about the subject, the scene and those who participated. A fascinating concept in photography. A complex scene is set up - and the central subject is blind folded and brought into the scene. The blindfold is then briefly removed - and the photograph taken. They are then apparently blind folded again, and only see what was really there when the photograph is produced. Very good condition.
