Hardcover, bound in the original publisher's lovely silk-covered boards, sewn with threads in traditional Chinese style, upper board richly illustrated in gilt, and with gilt lettering. First edition. Includes list of dynasties; notes on the history and technique of Chinese drawing and painting; supplement of plates illustrating Chinese bronzes, ceramic art, and jade (separate title page). The silk covered boards are in very good to fine condition, a little discoloured (darkened) to the edges. Tiny split to the head of the spine. Internally In fine internal condition. Exceptionally well preserved, crisp plates. 280 x 220 mm (11 x 8¾ inches).

Collotype is one of the most accurate and attractive methods of photomechanical tonal printing processes. Highly skilled and expensive process, it cannot produce more than a limited number of impressions. It has been used for single-sheet prints and luxury portfolios, and since the 1950s has been abandoned by all except a few small specialist firms
Strehlneek owned an art gallery in Shanghai. In 1930, he was advertising this as the oldest establish firm dealing with art objects for the collector.

Paris: Collection Poésie á Graver, 2013. A beautiful artist book by Motoko Tachikawa, based on a poem / lyric by Jean-Paul Soïme. Limited to only 30 copies, this is copy 7/30 signed to the colophon by Tachikawa. Handmade blue boards with leporello style publication inside. 16 leaves, printed on the recto only. The book is in as new condition. This is held in a soft card wrapper / slipcase with a reduced size image and title tipped onto the front cover. Slipcase is also in as new condition. 155 by 105mm (6 by 4¼ inches). First edition. Jean-Paul Soïme (1950-2007) was an author and musician from Martinique. Motoko Tachikawa (b1958) is a Japanese artist. Numerous key galleries and museums such as Galerie Akié Arichi have featured Tachikawa's work.

1869. Two fabulous original watercolours. Each shows a soldier sitting upon a rock. One shows a cavalry officer in full Cuirassier with sabre. The second is probably from a Dragoon regiment. Beautifully coloured and represented. Slight edgewear with nicking to the edges. Each is signed A. Gire to the bottom right corner. One is also dated 1869. Each measures: 440 x 300 mm (17¼ x 11¾ inches). Deux fabuleuses aquarelles originales. Chacun montre un soldat assis sur un rocher. L'une montre un officier de cavalerie en plein cuirassier au sabre. Le second provient probablement d'un régiment de dragons. Magnifiquement coloré et représenté. Légère usure des bords avec entailles sur les bords. Chacun est signé A. Gire dans le coin inférieur droit. L'un est également daté de 1869. Chacun mesure : 440 x 300 mm

Munchen: 1860. A very nice copy of this albumen print by Franz Hanfstaengl, which reproduces a fresco present in the Prussian State Gallery of the Imperial Palace. The original painting was by Hermann Wislicenus. The photograph size is 19cm x 25cm. The backing card (with printed publication details) is 35.5 x 45.cm. The photographg is in excellent condition, with good quality, sepia tones. The backing card is sound, but has some darkening, and has a little edgewear to it. Slight foxing to the rear of the board. Overall an excellent example of this rare photograph. Franz Seraph Hanfstaengl (1804–1877) was a Bavarian painter, lithographer, and photographer. After some time producing lithographic reproductions of art works, he also opened a photographic studio in Munich in 1853. Although this image is undated, it is around 1860. He produced a well known series of photographs of eminent citizens.

Schiedam: Herman Jansen, 1943. An original 1940's advertising poster for Scheidam Jenever. Featuring a large Pinneke Proost, riding a bottle of Jansen Jenever. In excellent condition, without significant flaws. Framed in a sympathetic red metal frame under glass. In 1943, the company commissioned Marten Toonder to create "Het recept van Pinneke Proost." Pinneke Proost was the house gnome (Kabouter) of Jansen Gin. In the cartoon strip Toonder created, he saved the day by unmasking a fake gin, and showing that Jansen's was superior. Impressed by this, the company commissioned Hans G. Kresse (one of Toonder's team of workers) to create the advertising for them. This poster was the result. It was not used for long, and a smaller size was created from the 1950's. 46cm x 31cm visible area under passe partout and frame of 61cm by 43cm (The actual poster has part of the blank area hidden behind the passe partout and is approx 57cm x 36cm).

Paris: Imprimerie S. A. Courbet. Poster featuring the famous 'Normandie' liner. This was produced (circa 1950) in response to the advancing popularity of airlines for transcontinental travel. The image of the ship emphasizes stability, safety, comfort, style and luxury. A beautiful ocean liner as indicated by the enormous proportions of the ship. Featuring the French national colours, and the liner's huge, imposing bow dominates this striking image. 1000 x 610 mm (39¼ x 24 inches). The poster is signed in the plate on the lower right.

Paul Colin (1892 - 1985) was one of France's greatest poster artists. Famous for his 1925 poster for the Revue Nègre, which helped launch the career of Josephine Baker (who also became his mistress). Colin is considered a master of modern school or poster art, and created more than 1400 posters, many theatrical sets and also costume designs. Affiche représentant le célèbre paquebot 'Normandie'. Cela a été produit (vers 1950) en réponse à la popularité croissante des compagnies aériennes pour les voyages transcontinentaux. L'image du navire met l'accent sur la stabilité, la sécurité, le confort, le style et le luxe. Un beau paquebot comme l'indiquent les proportions énormes du navire.
