London: John Murray, 1836. First Edition. Three volumes. Complete with frontis portrait and map. Bound in burgundy buckram, with simple gilt titles to the spine. In good, slightly dulled condition. Internally in sound condition, with moderate darkening to the pages only. There is foxing to the frontis portrait. The portrait is a portrait by Sir Joshua Reynolds, but the final page of volume three has an errata, stating that in fact, it was by Dance R.A. Large folding map of India is in good, slightly darkened condition. There have been archival repairs to a couple of closed tears. Neatly done. London: P. S. King, 1933. First Edition. Signed by the author, with a gift inscription to the Freud Bibliophile Robert Masson (His bookplate reads Nossam). Original blue cloth with gilt titles to the front board and spine. The titles to the front board are almost rubbed away. A little bumping otherwise. Bookplate to inside the front board. Gift inscription opposite. The book is in good condition throughout with a little darkening to the pages. Tipped into the rear of the book, are a review of the title by the Manchester Guardian, and the original dust wrapper of the book. This work was an attempt by the Danish economist, to counter the inflation and depression of the previous few years which had come about from an abandoning of the Gold Standard. He suggested that money supply be connected to an index of measurements of market requirements (index linking). 112 pages. 220 x 150 mm.

The print is reasonably clean, but has a light damp stain across the background, and light foxing. Raymond Haasen (1911-1983), was a master printer, painter and engraver, son of the intaglio printer Paul Haasen. He was active in Paris between 1920 and 1944. R. Haasen produced, among other things, the etchings for the covers of the two volumes of La Fontaine's Fables illustrated by Chagall (Vollard, 1952) as well as thirty-nine etchings for Chagall's Bible produced between 1952 and 1956 (Vollard, 1956).

Haasen a réalisé, entre autres, les eaux-fortes des couvertures des deux volumes des Fables de La Fontaine illustrées par Chagall (Vollard, 1952) ainsi que trente-neuf eaux-fortes pour la Bible de Chagall réalisées entre 1952 et 1956 (Vollard, 1956).

London: George Edward Wright / George Routledge & Sons, 1891. A nice copy, albeit ex-Library, of this account of a turbulent period in Anglo-Irish Political History. Burgundy buckram, with gilt titles. Parnell had founded the Irish Parliamentary Party, which dominated Nationalist representation at Westminster, and stood a good chance of obtaining Home Rule from Gladstone's government. But when Parnell was cited as a party in the divorce of Katherine O'Shea, there was a scandal and rift. The party split, and this book contains the Times articles which told of the divisions in the subsequent year. It accounts for the period October to November 1890. Parnell died in October 1891. The front and read board are in good, clean condition, but there is a little fading and fraying to the spine. Library number to the base of the spine. Library sticker to the ffep and a few other library marks and writings elsewhere. Other than these, the book is in very good condition. 220 by 130mm (8¾ by 5 inches). XX, 196, [iv] pages.

An interesting English guide dedicated to horse owners, illustrated with a beautiful steel engraving (first printing). based on a work by the author Harry Hieover pseudonym of Charles Bindley (1795/6–1859). Half tan morocco, smooth spine decorated with blind stamped design, gilded title, green percaline boards, the first decorated with a gilt decoration. The boards and spine are in good, clean condition. A touch of rubbing only. Internally the book is in very nice condition. Some light foxing otherwise very good copy. Bookplate of Alfred André, a great bibliophile, from a Nimes Protestant family who made their money in the silk trade, then in banking. He became regent of the Bank of France in 1871. xvi, 216, 32 pages. 32 page edverts fro new works by Longman to rear. 180 by 110mm (7 by 4¼ inches). he author Charles Bindley (1795/6–1859) was a British sports writer specializing in horses and outdoor sports, particularly hunting and stable management.

Overall a very useable copy, enhanced by the author's signature. Profuse facsimiles and illustrations throughout. Perhaps most important of the three volumes as it includes the text of many letters not previously reproduced. 280 x 210 mm (11 x 8¼ inches).
