London: Geor. Routledge & Co. Scarce First edition. Undated, but circa 1858. Colour illustrated softback, the binding of which has been skilfully restrung. The title page has a vignette, and there is one page for each letter of the alphabet with its matching trade or occupation described in a simple rhyme. Lovely wood engravings to suit each profession. For example: D for draper, Q for quarryman, U for upholsterer. Frontispiece to inside of soft cover is signed Dalziel in the plate; remaining woodcuts appear also to be by the Dalziel Brothers, but are unsigned. The back cover has an advertisement for other books in the Aunt Mavor's Little Library series. Covers are age toned, and lightly soiled - but unmarked and tidy inside. One or two signs of tape repair, but carefully done. Overall a good and rare item. [30] uncoloured pages. 175 x 135 mm (7 x 5¼ inches).

Includes many lovely colour and b/w vignettes, plus two full page illustrations in colour; all by the Belgian caricaturist Maurice Bonvoisin - best known as MARS. No date, but as the 'Nouvelle édition' assumed circa 1900. Boards and contents all in a very good clean condition. Text in French. 32 pages. 325 x 255 mm (12¾ x 10 inches). Nouvelle édition. Livre relié, percaline verte. Comprend de nombreuses vignettes en couleur et en noir et blanc, ainsi que deux illustrations pleine page en couleur, toutes réalisées par le caricaturiste belge Maurice Bonvoisin - plus connu sous le nom de MARS. Pas de date, mais on suppose que la "Nouvelle édition" date d'environ 1900. Les planches et le contenu sont en très bon état de propreté. Texte en français. 32 pages. 325 x 255 mm.

London & New York: George Routledge & Sons, 1887. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Illustrated by Walter Crane & Edmund Evans. Colour Illustrations. This book is in Very Good condition and is lacking a dust jacket. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have edge wear, rubbing. Some edges of the book covers have noticeable rubbing and lost of paper. The text pages are clean and bright. Walter Crane (15 August 1845 - 14 March 1915) was an English artist and book illustrator. He is considered to be one of the most influential children's book creators of his generation. Crane's work featured some of the more colourful and detailed beginnings of the child-in-the-garden motifs that would characterise many nursery rhymes and children's stories for decades to come. He was part of the 'Arts and Crafts' movement, active in Socialist politics, and produced an array of paintings and illustrations.

With contributions by Jean-Jacques Aillagon, Brassai, Gilberte Brassai, Roger Grenier, Henry Miller, Jacques Prevert, Werner Spies. Both book and jacket are in a very good to near fine condition. The inside of the dust jacket reads, in part: Here are Brassai's iconic scenes of nocturnal Paris with its prostitutes and thugs, its night workers, cafes, dance halls, and theaters; here are the fog-shrouded streets, monuments, and bridges; and here is the literary and artistic elite of the Parisian avant-garde, whom Brassai counted among his friends. Paris: Henri Ernst, 1925. First Edition. An attractive portfolio of 40 loose plates displaying the items exhibited at the U.S.S.R. pavilion at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts (L'Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs) at Paris in 1925. Red cloth spine with black hard boards and red label and ties. The spine is somewhat bruised and cracked but still holding well. The boards are a little nicked to the edges, but sound. Inside, is the title leaf, and a second sheet of two leaves, with introductory text, In French, and a table des planches. This outlines where each item comes from, and is repeated on each plate. These are in good, but slightly darkened condition. The forty plates (complete), are attractive colour lithographically reproduced images, laid onto stiff grey card stock. Titles etc. are printed onto the card. The images are in excellent condition. The card is a little darkened to the edges, and a few have some small edgewear, nicks and creases. Overall though in Very Good condition. A nice copy of an uncommon item. 390 by 300mm (15¼ by 11¾ inches)

. Première édition. Un portfolio attrayant de 40 planches détachées montrant les objets exposés au pavillon de l'URSS à l'Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs à Paris en 1925. Dos en toile rouge, cartons noirs, étiquette et attaches rouges. Le dos est quelque peu meurtri et fissuré, mais il tient encore bien. Les planches sont un peu entaillées sur les bords, mais elles sont saines. A l'intérieur, on trouve le feuillet de titre, et un deuxième feuillet de deux feuilles, avec un texte d'introduction, en français, et une table des planches. Cette dernière indique la provenance de chaque élément et est répétée sur chaque planche. Les planches sont en bon état, mais légèrement assombries. Les quarante planches (complètes) sont des images attrayantes reproduites par lithographie en couleurs, posées sur du papier cartonné gris rigide. Les titres, etc. sont imprimés sur la carte. Les images sont en excellent état. La carte est un peu assombrie sur les bords, et quelques-unes présentent de petites marques d'usure, des entailles et des plis. Dans l'ensemble, il s'agit d'un très bon état. Une belle copie d'un article peu commun. 390 x 300 mm
