*Kenneth H.M. Connal became Lt Colonel of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry in 1910. In 1915 he was commanding the Queen's Own Regiment. in 1916 he returned to his medical studies. Première édition. Cream card cover with titles and gilt crown. The book itself is paper covered. Just a little foxing to the paper covers and initial pages. The rest of the book is in excellent condition. On the whim of their mother, until their late teens François Timoléon de Choisy was dressed in what were seen at the time as clothes for a "girl". Paris: Schneider, Rue d'Erfurth, 1851. First edition. An early history of ballooning (entirely in French). The text is 32 pages long, and although there is an integral title, it would appear that it once had wrappers, which are not present. Black and white etchings throughout. Respectable condition for age. The pages have a little darkening and chipping to them, and there is a crease to the centre of the text, where the item has been folded. The binding is a little shaken, but holding. Copac only cites holdings at Imperial College.

Le texte fait 32 pages, et bien qu'il y ait un titre intégral, il semblerait qu'il ait eu autrefois des couvertures, qui ne sont plus présentes. Gravures en noir et blanc partout. Condition respectable pour l'âge. Les pages s'assombrissent et s'écaillent un peu, et il y a un pli au centre du texte, là où l'article a été plié. La reliure est un peu secouée, mais tient.

Text in black gothic script (German). Embellished with six beautiful chapter heading engravings. Internally in excellent condition. A little foxing to the end papers but the rest is very clean. These woodcuts are biographical pieces, mainly aimed against the Roman Catholic church. Described as: sharp satire against monasticism and priesthood: Hayn-Got. VIII, 328. Veit Weber was the pseudonym of Georg Philip Ludwig Leonhard Waechter (1762-1837). A writer of fiction, and briefly a revolutionary. As a young man he went to France, and joined the citizen army, he only returned to Germany when he was wounded. 428 pages. 170 x 110 mm (6¾ x 4¼ inches).

VIII, 328). Veit Weber war das Pseudonym von Georg Philip Ludwig Leonhard Waechter (1762-1837). Er schrieb Belletristik und war kurzzeitig Revolutionär. Most of the plates are in excellent condition, but there is a touch of edgewear to a couple. Creasing to one plate. Crease to the fold of each plate. Milan: Franco Maria Ricci, 1979. First edition. Publisher's hardback covered in black silk, gilt titles, color illustration glued to the cover. Illustrated slipcase with title on spine. Both book and slipcase are clean and tidy with no significant flaws. Aloys Zötl was an Austrian painter. He was relatively unknown until his work was "re-discovered" by surrealist André Breton who was taken by the surrealist aesthetic he saw present in the images - as he writes: "Lacking any biographical details about the artist, one can only indulge one's fantasies in imagining the reasons which might have induced this workman from Upper Austria, a dyer by profession, to undertake so zealously between 1832 and 1887 the elaboration of the most sumptuous bestiary ever seen." Public Review Domain 93 pages. 250 by 235mm (9¾ by 9¼ inches).

Wien: K. K. Österreich Museums, 1871. Scarce First edition. In half leather hardback, with red mottled boards. Contains many fascinatingly detailed b/w illustrations. Text in German. Spine is sun faded and rubbed, with some splitting beginning to top front of spine. Otherwise boards show minimal handling. Internally the book does have some foxing, mainly to edges of the pages. Slight curl to both front free end paper and rear end paper. 271 pages. 265 x 185 mm (10½ x 7¼ inches). This book was issued on the day the new museum building was opened - November 4, 1871
