These two comedies are illustrated with four separate engravings, one of which appears as the frontispiece.

Paris: Jacques Haumont, 1963. First edition. A lovely copy of this scarce work. Pale green soft cover. Cover slightly sun-faded. With two engravings (including the frontis) and an engraved initial by Vieillard. Printed on fine paper by Pierre Gaudin for the text and by Georges Leblanc for the illustrations. In very good condition internally. The colophon states that the copyright for the work rests with "Sufism Reoriented" of San Francisco. This was a spiritual organisation led by Meher Baba. Vieillard's wife, Anita (also an artist) was a devotee of Meher. This short story tells of meeting an inspirational Indian guru, almost certainly Meher Baba. Roger Vieillard (1907–1989). He was an exceptional engraver, one of the greatest burin artists of his century, a banker, poet, Hellenist, writer, and tennis champion. His wife, Anita, was an American artist who moved to Paris in the 1930's. Unpaginated (14 leaves). 23cm x 16cm. John Wilson was an English playwright, lawyer, and one time Recorder of Londonderry. His play The Cheats - included in this volume - was one of the first produced after the Restoration. To the front there is a hand written dedication to his second wife, Diana Miles, whom he married in 1970. Leslie Thomas, OBE was a Welsh author best known for his comic novel The Virgin Soldiers. This novel is set in the South Pacific, with many interesting characters - very 1960's! Good clean copy, obviously been read by the author's wife and family. 284 pages. 200 x 140 mm (7¾ x 5½ inches).

The Percy Society was a short lived British text publication society. It was founded in 1840 and collapsed in 1852. The Society was a scholarly collective, aimed at publishing limited-edition books of rare poems and songs. The president was Lady Braybrooke, and the twelve founding members of the committee included John Payne Collier, Thomas Crofton Croker, Thomas Wright, James Orchard Halliwell (treasurer), Charles Mackay, Edward Francis Rimbault (secretary) and William Chappell. Later members included William Sandys, and Robert Bell.

Hardback in blue cloth with gilt decoration and titles to spine. Limited to 500 copies. Dust jacket has loss to the top and bottom of the spine, and moderate darkening. In archival protection. Book itself has a little rubbing to top and base of spine. Internally, generally very clean, but has some smoke damage to the top edge of the initial pages, and to the bottom closed page edge. Overall a very useable copy, enhanced by the author's signature. Profuse facsimiles and illustrations throughout. Perhaps most important of the three volumes as it includes the text of many letters not previously reproduced. 280 x 210 mm (11 x 8¼ inches).
