London and Strassburg: Trübner & Co, 1876. Ex-library, in green cloth hardback binding. The cloth has split to the front hinge, for the entire length, but as this is a surface split, the binding is holding well. There are the usual library stamps inside, plus a bookplate to the front which says it was donated to the library by the executors of the late W. J. Ashdown Esq. Overall an interesting, in generally good condition, and scarce. xvi, 231 pp. 230 x 145 mm (9 x 5¾ inches).

Contents in good clean condition with a little light foxing to extremities of a few pages. Small pencil and ink inscription to FFEP. Owner's name to Top of title. 1914. Mounted albumen print of a nurse in Red Cross uniform, signed "Henri Manuel Paris" in pencil in lower margin of mount. - A few small stains. With (later) annotation in ballpoint on verso "La guerre 1914-1918". The nurse is portrayed in a beatific pose. Henri Manuel (1874 – 1947) was a French photographer who served as the official photographer of the French government from 1914 to 1944. 212 by 146mm (8¼ by 5¾ inches).

Original dark brown cloth, with gilt titles to spine. A little bumping and rubbing to the top and bottom of the spine, with a very small (2-3mm) closed tear to the head of the spine. No significant marks to the cloth. Foyles bookshop sticker to the inside board. Fractionally darkened to the edges, otherwise in excellent condition. Xii, 338 pages + 13 photographic plates. (complete). A very nice copy. Pohl has been described as the Father of Solid State Physics, 220 by 160mm (8¾ by 6¼ inches).

Sir George Porter was a highly regarded and well known British scientist. Appointed Director of the Royal Institution in 1966, Porter was awarded a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1967. He was the only Director of the Royal Institution to later become President of the Royal Society.
Porter's enthusiasm for science was infectious, and in this book his peers, former colleagues, students and friends celebrate his life and work.

London: Wilson, Salamon, & Co., Ltd, 1894. Scarce reprint (improved and revised 10th edition) of the original business pamphlet had become necessary as, within three years of the original, the contents were viewed more as a practical text book than a promotional item. At the time, saccharin was considered be a good inclusion, as - to quote this booklet - it never creates acidity or heartburn, and is, in these respects, far healthier than sugar! Blue soft covers are a little creased at edges, and inside the staples holding the booklet together are somewhat rusted. Overall good. 48 pages. 210 x 135 mm (8¼ x 5¼ inches).

Stillwater: Oklahoma State University, 1965. Signed dedication by Bryan P. Glass to the front in ink. Illustrated pale green paperback covers, with green cloth spine. Front cover is age toned to the very edges. Copyright 1951, but this is stated as the seventh printing from 1965. Illustrated with over 100 b/w fascinating anatomical drawings. Clean inside. 53 pages. 280 x 215 mm (11 x 8½ inches).

Hardback in original dark blue cloth, with gilt stamped title to spine. 40 b/w plates - 10 of which are fold out. In a very good and clean condition. Minor rubbing to boards. Inside just a number 1 in ink on title page, otherwise virtually spotless. 442 pages. 200 x 140 mm (7¾ x 5½ inches).

Budapest: Archaeolingua, 1999. Hardback book. No dust jacket, so as was produced. Proceedings of the International Archaeological Conference 1996, which took place at the 'Matrica' Museum in Százhalombatta (Hungary). In both English and German text, on high gloss paper. 488 pages. Good clean condition, both inside and out. This work is a wide range of papers, with various information and interpretations; its aim to transcend the limits of traditional archaeology.

Mijdrecht: Roche Nederland B.V, 1993. Fascinating book, dealing with the symbols and representations associated with chemists / apothecaries. Full of colour photographs. 174 pages. Clean and tidy full colour dust wrapper. Book itself is also clean throughout. It appears that a front end paper has been removed, so the book starts with the half title. 240 x 160 mm (9½ x 6¼ inches).
