    Brighton Corporation. An attractive copy of this publicity material for the year 1936-7. The cover design and black and white sketches are by Arthur Watts, with additional Sketches by H. G. Gawthorn. Mainly clean colour softback covers. Very slight marking only. Inside, the book is in very good condition throughout. 64 pages. Adverts, illustrations, sepia photographs and information throughout, showing Brighton at its height as a pre-war Art Deco destination. Folding map to the rear (in very good condition). Internally excellent, with a tiny closed tear to the last photograph (a couple of mm). 21cm x 16cm

Couvertures souples en couleur, propres pour la plupart. Seules de très légères marques ont été relevées. L'intérieur du livre est en très bon état. 64 pages. Publicités, illustrations, photographies sépia et informations tout au long de l'ouvrage, montrant Brighton à son apogée en tant que destination Art déco d'avant-guerre. Carte dépliante au dos (en très bon état). L'intérieur est excellent, avec une petite déchirure fermée sur la dernière photographie (quelques millimètres). 21cm x 16cm

    The Stranger's Guide to Brussels and Its Environs; to which is added the description of The Battle of Waterloo, and that of Sedan - with plans and maps

    Brussels: Kiessling & Company, 1873. In hardback paper covered boards. Fifth edition. Complete - with frontis map and three others. Covers bumped and rubbed. Map of Brussels has one small tear to upper section (shown in photographs). Overall in good condition. With the bookplate of Robert Washington Oates (1874-1958), who was born in London but partly educated in Belgium. He served in the First World War as a private soldier, whilst simultaneously making a substantial fortune through his financial interest in a firm of industrial chemists. After the WW1 ended he became an antique dealer, and gained an international reputation in the antiquarian book trade. Text in English. 148 pages + tables and adverts. 170 x 115 mm (6¾ x 4½ inches).
