Ordinary people simply can't compete. And honestly, he doesn't write anything particularly good about me either. A perfect example of how anything is permissible for an artist". Inside the diary consists of 380 pages of fairly dense japanese text (described in the blurb as an "Artistic, witty, and sensual diary." It also contains 12 full page black and white photographs by Araki, mainly of an erotic nature (with one self portrait). The pages are slightly yellowed, but overall in excellent condition for its age. 25cm x 15cm. Apparently surprisingly scarce. Conforms to WorldCat / OCLC: 673154638. which notes only three library holdings (Including the Tate). Tokyo Self Diary 1981-1989 represents Araki's 1980s diary evolution, bridging personal introspection and city portraiture just before his darker post-1990 phase which followed his wife, Yoko's death in 1990.

Émile Béchard was a notable French photographer born in 1844, recognized for his work in Egypt from around 1869 to 1880, especially in Cairo. He is best known for his evocative portraits and meticulously composed scenes depicting Egyptian daily life, including images of shopkeepers, merchants, workers, and dancers, framed through an orientalist perspective.
