Top edge gilt - remaining edges rough cut. The dust wrapper is clean, with a little darkening to the spine. A couple of spots, and a tear to the front fold. loss of about 1 inch to the base of the wrapper. Now covered in archival acetate. The boards are clean and tidy, with a touch of darkening to the base of the spine (where the wrapper is missing) only. Overall an excellent copy.

Evidence of ex-libris having been removed from FFEP. Original book is a little grubby / foxed, and pages age toned, but still in a good condition.
Geo London was the pseudonym of Parisian journalist Georges Samuel. He was a (often unpopular) court reporter for many important trials, even once meeting Al Capone, and wrote many works before his death in 1951. Première édition. Geo London était le pseudonyme du journaliste parisien Georges Samuel. Il était un sténographe judiciaire (souvent impopulaire) pour de nombreux procès importants, rencontrant même une fois Al Capone, et a écrit de nombreux ouvrages avant sa mort en 1951.

Paris: Parsons, Galignani et Compagnie, 1808. Second edition. Bound in quarter red morocco, marbled blue card boards and ornate gilt-stamped titles to spine. Complete with engraved frontis portrait. This is a French translation, by J. Martinet, of the memoirs of the notorious public life, and colourful private life, of the late Right Honourable Charles-James Fox. Spine shows very little sign of wear, and boards are just a little scuffed. Internally, the pages are toned, particularly to the front. Evidence of a small bookplate having been removed from front pastedown.

Charles-James Fox (1749-1806), was a prominent British statesman whose opinions in favour of the American War of Independence became some of the most radical ever to be aired in the Parliament of his era.

Fox's parliamentary career spanned 38 years of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and he was the arch-rival of William Pitt the Younger.

La colonne vertébrale montre très peu de signes d'usure et les planches sont juste un peu éraflées. A l'intérieur, les pages sont toniques, notamment vers le recto. Preuve d'un petit ex-libris ayant été retiré de l'encollage avant.

Charles-James Fox (1749-1806), était un éminent homme d'État britannique dont les opinions en faveur de la guerre d'indépendance américaine sont devenues parmi les plus radicales jamais exprimées au Parlement de son époque.

La carrière parlementaire de Fox a duré 38 ans à la fin du XVIIIe et au début du XIXe siècle, et il était le grand rival de William Pitt le Jeune.

Biot: Musée National Fernand Léger, 1920. An attractive lithograph, issued by Nadia Léger and Georges Bauquier on behalf of the Musée National Fernand Léger at Biot as a new year message / gift. The lithograph shows a picture of a woman holding a bunch of flowers. Inside, is a short printed text wishing the recipient a happy new year. (but doesn't state which year). Overall a clean and good condition lithograph on heavy weave paper. 280 by 220mm (11 by 8¾ inches). There is a very small stain to the corner of the front cover. To the rear panel there is some discoloration / darkening, but overall in excellent condition. First edition (for the card)

Paris / Amsterdam: Simon BENARD / Pierre MORTIER, 1691. Two volumes bound as one. A second edition of the "Voiage du Monde de Descartes" bound in with a First Thus (Amsterdam) copy of the "Suite du voyage du Monde". Unfortunately the First volume lacks the double plate of the Moon. It contains the 18 woodcuts showing celestial systems. The second volume contains 12 woodcuts. Original full leather binding with gilt details to the spine. (Somewhat faded to the spine). The binding is cracking to the hinges with some nicking, but is still holding together. Internally the books are clean and tidy with a little darkening and a couple of isolated foxing spots only. A couple of contemporary inked notes to the inside board. [xiv], 308., [viii], 248. pp. 160 x 100 mm (6¼ x 4 inches). The first volume is scarce in early editions. At the time of writing this description, there are no copies of the "Suite du voyage" available.

These works were the written by the Jesuit Priest, Father Gabriel Daniel (1649-1728), known for his activity as a historiographer and for his History of France. It relates Imaginary journey around the Cartesian universe, composed in the form of satire in the company of Father Mersenne, the author mainly fights the system of vortices. The debate on the question of the Void and Celestial Mechanics was one of the most important of the second half of the 17th century, and all the scientists and metaphysicians of the time brought their point of view to it. Daniel was opposed to Cartesian philosophy, and these treatise are mainly aimed at attacking his Treatise on Light (Published in 1664).

Ces ouvrages ont été écrits par le Prêtre Jésuite, le Père Gabriel DANIEL (1649-1728), connu pour son activité d'historiographe et pour son Histoire de France. Il relate Voyage imaginaire autour de l'univers cartésien, composé sous forme de satire en compagnie du Père Mersenne, l'auteur combat principalement le système des tourbillons. Le débat sur la question du Vide et de la Mécanique Céleste fut l'un des plus importants de la seconde moitié du XVIIe siècle, et tous les scientifiques et métaphysiciens de l'époque y apportèrent leur point de vue. Daniel était opposé à la philosophie cartésienne, et ces traités visent principalement à attaquer son Traité de la lumière (publié en 1664).

Ex Libris for Henri Monnier to the front paste down. The binding has a little rubbing only. Inside, the book is in good condition. The plates have moderate foxing to the backing paper, but the Chine paper is bright. Overall a very nice copy. xliv, 312 pages. 270 by 180mm (10¾ by 7 inches). Premier Ainsi. Good condition. Slightly wrinkled / creased, with some small closed tears to sheet edge (not affecting the actual engraving). A few pale spots of foxing. Neat repair to verso. Light water stains, only obvious from otherwise blank verso. 280 x 420 mm (image); 306 x 490 mm (sheet).

J. Réségotti (Editeur), 1906. First edition. In what appears to be crocodile or snake skin covers. The Parisian publishing house of the brother photographers Étienne and Louis-Antonin Neurdein (1846–1914) was founded in Paris ca. 1885 and published postcards marked with an ND logo. However, Étienne already had begun publishing postcards in 1875 under the firm name Neurdein et Cie (founded by Étienne in 1864.) In 1887, both brothers ran the company, which was known as Neurdein Frères and as ND. Phot. beginning in 1906. In 1915, the name became Neurdein, and then again, from 1916 to 1918, Neurdein & Cie. The Neurdein company was the largest French publisher of postcards of the time. By the turn of the century, they were being funded by the French government to produce images and postcards of Algeria in order to promote colonial tourism and stimulate private investment.
