Stiff card folding portfolio containing a booklet (Text In English, French and Russian) and an attractive set of 32 Soviet Political Posters. Each poster is 400 mm x 295 mm. The portfolio has design in Russian to the front cover. There is a little fading and marking to the predominantly white boards. The booklet is tipped onto the front board. Posters are in excellent condition. To the rear of each poster is the name of the artist and date.

Pasted onto a mustard card backing. Backing card is chipped and tatty to the edges but could be neatly trimmed. Print is 35cm x 26cm. Among his works are portrait etchings of historical figures and color woodcuts. His early works were influenced by Max Klinger. Bossert was born in Heidelberg and studied in Karlsruhe, before settling in Leipzig. In 1904 he began teaching at the Leipzig Academy for the Graphic Arts. In 1911 he spent a summer in Normandy and Brittany, where he was introduced to the art of Paul Cézanne. Bossert was a winner of 1914 Villa Romana prize. He died in 1919 in Leipzig. (Wikipedia).

La gravure sur bois mesure 17 cm x 20 cm. Imprimée sur du papier fin chiné. Le papier mesure 48 cm x 33 cm. Signé par Bossert sous l'image. Le papier est un peu froissé, en particulier sur les bords, mais il s'agit dans l'ensemble d'une belle œuvre. Otto Richard Bossert (1874-1919), également connu sous le nom de O. R. Bossert, était un portraitiste, professeur d'art et artiste graphique allemand. Parmi ses œuvres figurent des portraits à l'eau-forte de personnages historiques et des gravures sur bois en couleur.     Original etching on thick laid paper. Circa 1885. Signed in the plate. Sold unframed. Nice deep impression. From Slocombe's Views on the Thames series. This is plate No. 3, a view from what is now known as Cliveden, near Taplow in Berkshire. Frederick Slocombe was a British artist who painted landscapes and coastal scenes, but is better known for his work as an etcher. His landscapes convey the characteristic serene atmosphere of the English countryside. Has two eye holes in the outer margin at the top - assume where once displayed in a book / file.
