The plates are a little foxed and darkened throughout, but still attractive. French monarchs and significant characters from history. Engravings include Charlemage, Marie Antoinette, Napoleon (5 different views), and surprisingly George King of England and Washington. 280 by 170mm (11 by 6¾ inches). . Disappointed by the politics of Jules Ferry in the 1880s, Le Petit defended general Boulanger and sided against Dreyfus in his work. He ended being quite a sad character, and spent his final years making caricatures of tourists on the first floor of the Eiffel tower, and singing and playing the violin in cabarets.
