A nice volume, with three full page engravings (frontis and two further plates) and 117/118 engraved plates. Sadly, this copy lacks plate 81 but we have managed to include two facsimiles of the lacking plate. One by Bodeneer (the one intended for this edition). The second is the larger version engraved for the first edition. Both loosely inserted. Quarter leather, with dark brown marbled boards. The leather is slightly rubbed. Pagination is difficult, as not all of the plates have descriptive text with them, and there are no page numbers. However this copy is complete with all of the text pages intended. (Both from the register and from comparison with another copy). Some of the plates have water damage or worm damage, but still attractive (see photographs). Our copy has both the frontis, and the second full page engraving bound in before the title (we have seen other copies with it after A2). To the rear is an attractive full page plate of a plasterer at work. Curiously, the index / register of engravings only describes 114 plates (but is clearly complete with decoration to the sheet afterwards) yet there are 118. This printing was a slightly reduced size. The engraved plates were by Georgio Conrado Bodeneer. Collation: A-Z2, Aa-Ee2. Plates 1-80, 82-118. 31cm x 20cm. Conforms to WorldCat / OCLC: 247580481. Andrea Pozzo (1642–1709), also known by Latinized names like Andrea Puteo or Puteus, was an Italian Jesuit lay brother renowned as a Baroque painter, architect, and perspective theorist.

    . Une réédition ancienne du deuxième volume de cet ouvrage fondateur sur la perspective et l'architecture. Un beau volume, avec trois gravures pleine page (frontispice et deux autres planches) et 117/118 planches gravées. Malheureusement, cet exemplaire ne comporte pas la planche 81, mais nous avons réussi à inclure deux fac-similés de la planche manquante. L'un par Bodeneer (celui destiné à cette édition). La seconde est la version plus grande gravée pour la première édition. Les deux sont insérées sans être reliées. Reliure en quart cuir, avec des plats marbrés brun foncé. Le cuir est légèrement frotté. Il n'y a ni étiquette ni titre sur le dos. Le texte accompagnant chaque planche est présenté en latin et en allemand (lettres gothiques). La pagination est difficile, car toutes les planches ne sont pas accompagnées d'un texte descriptif et il n'y a pas de numéros de page. Cependant, cet exemplaire est complet et contient toutes les pages de texte prévues. (D'après le registre et la comparaison avec un autre exemplaire). Certaines planches présentent des dégâts causés par l'eau ou les vers, mais restent attrayantes (voir photos). Notre exemplaire comporte à la fois le frontispice et la deuxième gravure pleine page reliée avant le titre (nous avons vu d'autres exemplaires où elle se trouve après A2). À l'arrière se trouve une jolie planche pleine page représentant un plâtrier au travail. Curieusement, l'index/registre des gravures ne décrit que 114 planches (mais est clairement complet avec la décoration de la feuille suivante), alors qu'il y en a 118. Cette impression était de taille légèrement réduite. Les planches gravées sont l'œuvre de Georgio Conrado Bodeneer. Collation : A-Z2, Aa-Ee2. Planches 1-80, 82-118. 31 cm x 20 cm. We have repaired this with archival tape to the rear of the picture but the split is slightly visible to the front. Held under a white passe partout and ready for framing. An attractive piece of accomplished portraiture. Image approximately 22cm x 19cm. Mount is 42cm x 29.5cm.

L'image est maintenue sous un passe-partout blanc et prête à être encadrée. Une pièce attrayante d'un portrait accompli. Image d'environ 22cm x 19cm. Le support mesure 42 cm x 29,5 cm.

Each of the sketches has been given its own border within the sketchbook, and most have a protective page / sheet loosely laid over them. Almost certainly the work of a skilled amateur, rather than a professional author. The front cover of the sketchbook has a design / title painted onto grey leather and tipped onto the front card. There is a silver gilt design as part of this, some of which has now rubbed away. The front board has become detached from the rest of the sketchbook. 26.5cm x 21cm.

Chaque croquis a reçu sa propre bordure à l'intérieur du carnet de croquis, et la plupart d'entre eux sont recouverts d'une feuille de protection. Il s'agit presque certainement du travail d'un amateur compétent, plutôt que d'un auteur professionnel. La couverture du carnet de croquis est ornée d'un motif / titre peint sur du cuir gris et collé sur la carte de couverture. Il y a un motif en argent doré qui fait partie de la couverture, dont une partie a maintenant disparu. La première de couverture s'est détachée du reste du carnet. 26,5 cm x 21 cm.

    Rajasthan: N.P, C1880. Original artwork. Water colour, gilt and gouache. An attractive Indian artwork, in the Manner of Nihâl Chand (born 1710) but probably a later copy. painted onto a sheet of light brown paper. This seems the norm for these paintings. The sheet is slightly nicked to the edges and has fractional staining to the sheet. If you hold up to the light, there are some tiny pinpricks to the paper, invisible to the naked eye otherwise. To the rear are remnants of tape, where the painting has been held in an album.     Rajasthan: N.P, C1880. Original artwork. Water colour, gilt and gouache. An attractive Indian artwork, in the Manner of Nihâl Chand (born 1710) but probably a later copy. painted onto a sheet of light brown paper. This seems the norm for these paintings. The sheet is slightly nicked to the edges and has fractional staining to the sheet. If you hold up to the light, there are some tiny pinpricks to the paper, invisible to the naked eye otherwise. To the rear are remnants of tape, where the painting has been held in an album. Beautifully executed scene of Radha and Krishna embracing under a palm tree, a classic theme in Indian miniature art traditions. Although not signed or dated, the piece is likely from the Rajasthan region in the Rajasthani school of miniature painting, such as Bundi or Kota sub-schools, where Krishna-Radha scenes with natural elements like trees are prevalent. Krishna is identifiable by his crown, and the peacock elements implied. Rada is identified by here lota (water pot), flowing ghagra. 21.5cm x 15.5cm

Peinte sur une feuille de papier brun clair. Cela semble être la norme pour ces peintures. La feuille est légèrement abîmée sur les bords et présente quelques taches. À contre-jour, on aperçoit de minuscules trous dans le papier, invisibles à l'œil nu. Au dos, on trouve des traces de ruban adhésif, là où le tableau était fixé dans un album. Magnifique scène représentant Radha et Krishna s'embrassant sous un palmier, un thème classique dans la tradition de l'art miniature indien. Bien qu'elle ne soit ni signée ni datée, cette œuvre provient probablement de la région du Rajasthan, de l'école de peinture miniature du Rajasthan, telle que les sous-écoles de Bundi ou de Kota, où les scènes représentant Krishna et Radha avec des éléments naturels comme des arbres sont très répandues. Unsigned, this work appears to be an incomplete composition for a magazine such as "Le Rire" or "L'Assiette au Beurre." A worman on a director's chair, is speaking to a relaxed gentleman, in late nineteenth century dress, wearing a straw boater and with an outsized moustache. The painted area is highly skilled, and appears to be finished. What is curious, is that the pencil sketch shows another woman, stood to the other side of the man, and tapping him on the shoulder. Only her hand has been inked in. It is tempting to think that the shadow of the woman is left…

What argues against this, is that the "ghost" is in pencil (which wouldn't have reproduced in any intended publication). Also, the man's left foot is also only in pencil. So on balance, this is an unfinished caricature. Still a fabulous fin de siecle drawing. On art paper, with a little nicking to the edges and slight darkening. A single fold to the centre where the sheet has been folded. 30cm x 22cm.

Non signée, cette œuvre semble être une composition inachevée destinée à un magazine tel que « Le Rire » ou « L'Assiette au Beurre ». Une femme assise sur une chaise de réalisateur s'adresse à un homme détendu, vêtu d'un costume de la fin du XIXe siècle, coiffé d'un canotier et arborant une moustache imposante. La partie peinte est très travaillée et semble achevée. Ce qui est curieux, c'est que l'esquisse au crayon montre une autre femme, debout de l'autre côté de l'homme, qui lui tape sur l'épaule. Seule sa main a été encrée. Il est tentant de penser que l'ombre de la femme a été laissée intentionnellement fantomatique, comme la conscience de l'homme lui rappelant sa femme. Ce qui contredit cette hypothèse, c'est que le « fantôme » est au crayon (ce qui n'aurait pas été reproduit dans une publication prévue). De plus, le pied gauche de l'homme n'est également dessiné qu'au crayon. Tout bien considéré, il s'agit donc d'une caricature inachevée. Il n'en reste pas moins un fabuleux dessin fin de siècle. Sur papier d'art, avec quelques petites entailles sur les bords et un léger noircissement. Un seul pli au centre, là où la feuille a été pliée. 30 cm x 22 cm.

Besides frescoes, he painted a variety of works including portraits, landscapes, and scenes from his travels in France, Italy, Spain, and Greece using oil, watercolor, ink, and other mediums. He exhibited his works in several galleries in Paris, Nantes, and Bordeaux over many decades.

L'abbaye de Royaumont est un ancien monastère cistercien situé dans le hameau de Baillon à Asnières-sur-Oise dans le Val-d'Oise, à une trentaine de kilomètres au nord de Paris. Albert Lemasson était un peintre français (1892-1982). Il a suivi une formation classique et est entré à l'École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris en 1919. Pendant environ 25 ans, Lemasson s'est principalement spécialisé dans la décoration d'églises à travers des fresques, travaillant souvent avec son frère Paul Lemasson.
