He was a brilliant officer in Africa, Tonkin and everywhere where battles were fought, and began to cultivate the Muses quite late in life. Began with master strokes and immediately marked his place in the first rank. Composes poems with a high, allure, a breath of effect and a rare elegance of style. He is currently enjoying new success with the Fo...etc d..r Persée, which M. François Coppée read yesterday at the Académie, to the applause of a select audience, while waiting for the author himself to read his acceptance speech. Distinguishing marks Stubbornly avoids the world and salons, although he is a regular at the Jockey Club, where his inexhaustible verve is much appreciated, and eats only one meal a day." 15 pages. 28cm x 23cm. 4°

28cm x 23cm. 4°

Odilon-Jean Périer was a Belgian poet of French heritage. He was born in Brussels in 1901 and died there in 1928 of rheumatic pericarditis. His birth name was Jean, but he chose the pseudonym Odilon-Jean Périer to avoid confusion with the actor Jean Périer. He was particularly associated with Surrealist artists and poets. He is still remembered today, with exhibitions and monuments to him in Brussels. 86 pages. 185 by 145mm (7¼ by 5¾ inches).

86 pages. 185 x 145 mm.
