Les coins de la reliure sont mous, petite marque d'encre sur le premier plat, et décoloration sous les bordures décorées en doré.     Amsterdam: G. Schaares: 1825. First edition. A small almanac in a marbled slipcase. Turquoise illustrated boards. Engraved title page & 5 further engraved plates. Calendar to the first few pages. Contents to the rear. There is a little rubbing to the edges of the boards, and splitting to both front and rear hinge (boards are holding well though). Slipcase is marbled, with a touch of rubbing and a little nicking to the head and tail - not split though. Internally clean and tidy - with a little darkening and a few light foxing spots.

Haltrop (born 1941) is a Dutch cartoonist, who moved to France in 1968 following a court case where he was accused of Lèse-majesté for comparing Queen Juliana to a prostitute. He continues to draw provocative cartoons. He was associated for a while with the Dutch Provo movement. 200 by 150mm (7¾ by 6 inches).

Library stamps for the Erasmiaansch Gymnasium Rotterdam. Map of the Alps showing regions, 268 photographs of peaks and features on glossy paper, several are folding plates. Cloth boards are a little stained and darkened, particularly to the front cover. Still attractive though. Moderate foxing to the first few. The rest the book is in very good condition with only light foxing. 440 by 300 mm (17¼ by 11¾ inches).

Complete with all 77 engraved plates. Lovely Frontis engraving of a steam locomotive, "The Rogers Locomotive and Machine Works". Discrete library / owner's stamp to the title page shows that this belonged to the Chemins de Fer in Algeria. After the title and colophon, there is a full page railway map of Great Britain in 1858. Many of the engravings are very specific engine parts shown in full detail, others show whole locomotives. 192 pages + plates. 370 x 250 mm (14½ x 9¾ inches).

    London: Hamish Hamilton, 1960. Full-page caricature illustrations by Sokol. Unpaginated, text and then 60 b/w plates, printed on recto only. In original unclipped dust jacket. 300 x 235 mm (11¾ x 9¼ inches). The dust jacket is aged / toned, and has some edge wear / chipping - mainly to the top. Internally lightly toned to whole pages, commensurate with the age of the book. In his introduction's conclusion, Steve Allen says: I promise him (the reader) that once he meets Sokol's characters he will not easily forget them. He will go back to them again and again, in much the same way he goes back to pictures in a family album. And probably for the same reasons.

    1985. A Dutch oil painting of a landscape scene - a water mill by a canal with trees and sky. Probably an amateur artist, it is signed P.M. '85. Assumed 1985. Oil on canvas, and mounted in a wooden and gilt frame. Sold with the frame. Frame size 500 mm width x 420 mm height. Image size 285 mm x 230 mm. The painting is in very good condition, with just a touch of crackle to the glaze. The frame is mainly in good condition, but with a little rubbing to the lower edge.

The boards are lightly bumped at the corners, but overall in good condition, with a neat ink written owner's name - dated 1890 - to the half title.
