As ever, the contents are in varied states of repair. This is the softback edition. In this copy: Pop-up castle in fine condition; Red accordion present, but doesn't make sound; Pop-up plane in fine condition; Chelsea Girls ad with spring attached; Dodecagon is missing, black string attached; Lou Reed pictorial record missing; Tri-fold pink and rainbow noses present; Pop-up tomato paste can in fine condition (with signature to page); For A Big Surprise!!! three tabs still attached; Balloon glued to pages, (this seems to be universal).
A little rubbing and bumping, with minor handling, but in excellent condition apart from the flaws mentioned here. Unpaginated - 280 x 215 mm (11 x 8½ inches). Alan Rinzler said "The two simultaneous editions, in cloth and paper, sold out quickly and the book is now a valuable out-of-print work of original Warhol art". Rinzler was consulting editor of the Loft 1967-1969. Involved in "producing with him [Warhol] in a very collaborative creative process The Andy Warhol Index Book, a large format heavily designed book with special fold-out and pop-up features, photos, audio recordings, and text.

In 1965, a photographer named Billy Liar had come to me with an idea for a photo book on Warhol and his factory, but when he brought me there, I took the opportunity to ask Andy if would like to participate more personally in creating a book that was also work of art, something he actually put together, as the author. And not just photographs and text but other ideas we could cook up that related to everything else he was producing at the time. Luckily, Andy was happy to agree and became the author of the book."

(From Vol. VII onwards publication is by the Ethnologischer Verlag). Some of the volumes are numbered, indicating a limited edition, but this is different with each volume. The Anthropophyteia is probably the most comprehensive collection of sexual folklore and ethnological sex research and one of the most important basic works on sex research and the history of customs and, in its outstanding achievement, the most important work in the life's work of FS Krauss. From Vol VII onwards, Freud contributed to the work. Red cloth with gilt titles to each volume. Overall in very good condition, with many of the pages uncut. A little bumping and edgewear overall. Vol I (1904) is clean and bright, with a little fading to the spine. Smaller catalogue bound in to rear; Vol II (1905) has some water staining to the front board. 1929. Gorgeous oval shaped drypoint etching with aquatint, and small detail / colouring by hand. The work is unsigned - but most likely by Jean Gilles. This is a fantastic example of the Années folles (France in the 1920s) passion for what was known as 'Boudoir Art'. Gilles worked in the style of Louis Icart or Jean Hardy. Under white cardboard mount. Perfect for framing. The etching and the mount are both in a very good condition, with just a small spot or two (covered by mount). Whole item including card mount 600 x 400 mm (23½ x 15¾ inches). Image 370 x 195 mm. Superbe gravure à la pointe sèche de forme ovale avec aquatinte, et petit détail / coloration à la main. L'oeuvre n'est pas signée - mais très probablement de Jean Gilles. C'est un exemple fantastique de la passion des Années folles pour ce qu'on appelait «l'art boudoir». Gilles a travaillé dans le style de Louis Icart ou de Jean Hardy. Sous passe-partout en carton blanc. Parfait pour l'encadrement. La gravure et le montage sont tous deux en très bon état, avec juste une petite tache ou deux (couvertes par le montage). Article entier, y compris le support de carte 600 x 400 mm.. Pierre Lafitte, 1913. Beautiful edition of this work. From the Sports Bibliothèque series. Three quarter leather, with marbled boards, and decoration to the spine and gilt titles. Adorned with 48 pages of photographic illustrations. Although not stated, this has the uneven size and cut of high quality paper, and would seem to be a luxury edition. Light foxing, but overall an attractive copy. Text in French. viii, 370 pages. 220 x 160 mm (8¾ x 6¼ inches). Belle édition de cet ouvrage. De la série Sports Bibliothèque. Trois quarts de cuir, à plats marbrés, et décor au dos et titres dorés. Orné de 48 pages d'illustrations photographiques. London: G. Baxter, 1853. Two framed prints of famous images. One is entitled: "Australia. News from Home". This first depicting a group of men inside a wooden building in Australia. Two of whom appear indigenous. The other entitled: "News from Abroad". This showing a family gathered around for the reading of a letter, whilst on the wall there is a poster promoting emigration to Australia. Both from paintings by Harden Sidney Melville, and engraved, printed and published by G. Baxter. They are cropped, so no longer have the Baxter stamp at the bottom. Tipped on to card and mounted in wooden frames under glass. Each measures: 110 mm x 150 mm. Total size including frame: 260 mm x 290 mm. They have a label to the rear which says they were framed by The Petersfield Book Shop. In very good condition. (Price is for the pair).
