The Gift of Life, OMK Page Edition. 'Operation Magic Kingdom' was a billboard and street poster campaign in London (2007) against the Iraq war. This was also released as stamps and prints. OMK blind stamped and hand numbered in pencil to front. Has official CNPD red stamp on verso. With 4 binding holes in the left hand margin. Dimensions: 35,8 cm x 30.5cm. Excellent condition.     London: 1816. Scarce satirical hand coloured etching. A close-up view of the Prince Regent standing with his back to the viewer. According to The British Museum, this is based on No. 9846 by Gillray, with The Regent's Bomb / Cadiz Memorial in the background. The image is mainly focussed on the George IV's large, rounded posterior! His curled and powdered wig, calves and arms are all also exaggerated. His garter is inscribed 'Honi soit' - this is an abbreviation of the Anglo-Norman phrase Honi soit qui mal y pense, or shame on he who thinks evil of it. This is the motto of the Order of the Garter. The engraving is clean and bright, with just residue of sticky tape…

    1929. Gorgeous oval shaped drypoint etching with aquatint, and small detail / colouring by hand. The work is unsigned - but most likely by Jean Gilles. This is a fantastic example of the Années folles (France in the 1920s) passion for what was known as 'Boudoir Art'. Gilles worked in the style of Louis Icart or Jean Hardy. Under white cardboard mount. Perfect for framing. The etching and the mount are both in a very good condition, with just a small spot or two (covered by mount). Both from paintings by Harden Sidney Melville, and engraved, printed and published by G. Baxter. They are cropped, so no longer have the Baxter stamp at the bottom. This showing a family gathered around for the reading of a letter, whilst on the wall there is a poster promoting emigration to Australia. Les détails architecturaux ont été dessinés par Pugin, et Rowlandson a dessiné les personnages (les deux sont crédités sur la feuille). L'aquatinte a été réalisée par J. Bluck. Très belle impression propre de cette planche, avec une bonne mise en couleur. Une très petite rousseur fermée sur le bord inférieur de la planche. Ackermann a réalisé cette œuvre entre 1807 et 1810. Gravure Passepartout sous la crème de 23 cm x 29,5 cm. Passepartout mesure 385 x 430 mm (15¼ x 17 pouces). La gravure est en très bon état. Passepartout a une petite marque sur un côté et est légèrement assombri. Le nom de l'artiste a été écrit à la base (et mal orthographié Brangwin). Sir Frank William Brangwyn (1867 - 1956) était un peintre, graveur et illustrateur anglo-gallois. Bien que né en Belgique, sa famille est retournée au Pays de Galles en 1875 où il a reçu son éducation artistique, d'abord avec son père, puis avec le célèbre artiste William Morris. La relation de Brangwyn avec l'un de ses admirateurs et partisans, le poète belge Emile Verhaeren, lui vaut d'être chargé de créer de nombreuses illustrations pour le recueil de poèmes de Verhaeren, Les Villes Tentaculaires.

The publisher's details are printed in the plate, and state that it was printed 1st December 1842. Framed in a more recent dark green passe partout and dark hardwood frame. The visible area of the lithograph is 540 x 380 mm (21¼ by 15 inches). It will be slightly larger under the passe partout - the sheet size is 23 5/8" x 17 1/4". Frame size is 720 x 560 mm (28¼ x 22 inches). If sold online will be sold without frame. David Roberts, (1796-1864) was a successful Scottish artist, in 1838 traveled throughout the Middle East and produced many paintings. On his return to England, he and lithographer Louis Haghe published a hand-coloured six volume set of his works covering Egypt and Nubia and the Holy Land.
