Contemporary Engravings of the principal places visited reproduced from Schultzen's Ost-indische Reyse [Amsterdam, 1676]. Maps used as end papers are from a contemporary Mercator Atlas. Double page plates, double page facsimile from original manuscript. 209,  pp. Bookplate of Herbert Eberhard Hering, a noted German-Brazilian bibliophile and book collector, appears on the inside front paste down. 320 by 200mm (12½ by 7¾ inches).

Paris: Librairie Garnier Freres, 1848. Three volumes in contemporary half red leather & gilt (recently restored) with red boards. Marbled boards. Three Volumes. 1) Chants Guerriers et Patriotiques. Chansons Bachiques. 2) Chansons et Chansonnettes. Chansons Burlesques et Sateriques. 3) Chansons Choisies. Romances, Rowdes et Compaintes. Each volume has two engraved title pages as well as the printed title page. Each of the songs is comprised of four leaves / 8 sides, has its title, with credits for music and illustrations - There are music, lyrics and beautiful engravings for each song. Each separate song has the printer information at the bottom of the last leaf, leaving me to wonder if this was originally issued as a part work ? Complete.
Condition: The red boards have a touch of darkening and a little marking to them, but presentable. The leather and gilt are clean and bright. Lausanne: La Guilde du Livre et les editions Clairefontaine, 1959. Lovely copy of this scarce Jazz photo book (photographs by Michel-Claude JALARD), in a unique black and white leather binding. Limited, numbered edition, this is copy 816. The white leather has a black band to it, and the titles and image of a Jazzman are painted onto the leather. 153 pp., 130 photographs.

Oxford University Press, 1866. Contemporary full bone / ivory binding (boards, spine and clasp). Purple silk end papers. All edges gilt. Printed throughout in red and black. The book is held in a black leather covered box with metal catch. (box probably later). Antique Ivory (worked prior to 1947) is legal to own.
Condition: A very nice example of bone / ivory binding. The clasp is sound, but the catch on the front board is missing (so it doesn't click shut). There is a thin crack to the base of the spine. Otherwise, the binding is clean and tidy. The silk end papers are clean and tidy, but have just a touch of rubbing to the edges. The rest of the book are clean and tidy throughout.
