First edition in original dust jacket. Twelve pages of fascinating photographs. Fine in fine, unclipped dust jacket. Now in removable clear protective wrapping. xvi, 442 pp. 240 x 165 mm (9½ x 6½ inches).

    O'Duffy was an Irish nationalist military leader and popular conservative head of Fine Gael ("Irish Race"), who played a significant role in the development of the Irish armed forces and police. His support of fascism during the 1930s, however, cost him much of his popular support.

    The author Fearghal Mcgarry is an Historian of Modern Ireland, based at Queen's University Belfast.

Overall a decent copy of this bibliographical work. The leather boards are clean and tidy, with a little rubbing and bumping to them. Very slight cracking to the edges, but no loss. Internally, the book is generally clean and tidy. The end paper has a large tear, with loss of about a third of the end paper. The rest of the book is in excellent condition. Neat owner's contemporary bookplate and inscription to the inside board. [viii], 1-192 pp.

    Lyon: Society for the Propogation of the Faith, 1838. First edition. A single sheet, folded octavo, with 8 printed pages, uncut. This comprises two articles extracted from Annals of the Propagation of the Faith. One is a summary of the income and expenditure of the missions. An interesting summary - showing which of the missions and individuals received grants. The other, is a summary of the work of the missions, first published in the Dublin Review (no. 8). Overall, this is in a good condition. There is a touch of marking to the rear page only. Otherwise very clean and tidy.
