Quarter cloth and papered boards; spine title label; top edge trimmed, others uncut; covers lightly darkened to the edges and spines. corners slightly bumped; spine label a little tanned and slightly chipped. An attractive copy. Printed in red and black on paper made in Ireland. Published by Elizabeth Corbet Yeats at the house of Evelyn Gleeson in Dundrum. [1], 55, [1] pp. 215 x 150 mm (8½ x 6 inches).

Elizabeth Corbet Yeats was the sister of W.B. Yeats. She was a founder of Dundrum Press. The press published 11 books. She worked alongside Evelyn Gleeson, an English embroiderer. Relations were strained, and the press ended in 1908. Elizabeth (known as Lolly) went on to found Cuala Press with W.B. Gleeson continued Dun Emer after the split, and after her death it continued until 1964.

London: J. Phillips, 1788. New Edition (Second British Edition). Recent quarter leather with marbled boards. Gilt titles. New end papers. Half title, title, contents, biography of author, introduction and text. To the end there is a leaf of adverts on the subject of slavery from Phillips. In very nice condition. The quarter calf is clean and tidy, with just a touch of handling. The edges of the marbled boards are slightly rubbed, but overall in very good clean condition. Internally clean and tidy throughout, with just a touch of foxing to the pages.
An important early American publication against the slave trade. Benezet (1713-1784) was born in Picardy, France. His family moved to London following the edict of Nantz, which was against Protestants in France. The family moved to Philadelphia in 1731, and shortly after he converted to Quakerism. He is described in the Library Company Afro- Americana catalogue (Item 44) as "the colonial anchor-man of the Anglo- American anti-slavery axis." Benezet worked ceaselessly to have slavery abolished by the colonial legislatures, and corresponded with Granville Sharp, one of the most important English abolitionists. 131 + advert leaf pp. Nouvelle édition (deuxième édition britannique). Paris: H. Floury, 1908. First edition. One of a thousand copies (not numbered) on Velin paper. Grey boards with minimalist titles to the spine and front board. There is a little rubbing to the edge of the spine. Front board is a little bowed. Contains 2 portraits, 11 plates by Beardsley and 2 cul de lampe. Internally a very nice clean copy. 129 pages. Plates have glassine guards. The spine is darker than the boards and has possibly been neatly re-laid. 260m x 20cm. Première édition. Un des mille exemplaires (non numérotés) sur papier Velin. Planches grises avec des titres minimalistes au dos et au recto. Il y a un petit frottement au bord de la colonne vertébrale. Le panneau avant est un peu incliné. Contient 2 portraits, 11 planches de Beardsley et 2 cul de lampe. Intérieurement un très bel exemplaire propre. 129 pages. Les assiettes ont des gardes en verre. Le dos est plus foncé que les planches et a peut-être été soigneusement remonté. 26 cm x 20 cm.

London: Bowles & Rivington: 1724. A glazed and framed hand coloured map of South Wales. As well as the map, there are architectural details to the left side of the map. To the right are two fossils. Framed in light and dark green mounting board, and a green and gilt wooden frame. Overall in very clean and tidy condition. The original map fold is visible to the centre but is very light. There is a small repaired tear to the top right inch of the map - not affecting any detail. 200 x 320 mm (7¾ x 12½ inches).
Moll was a cartographer who moved to England in 1678 and opened a book and map store in London. He produced a variety of maps, most of which asserted British sovereignty over Empire and the New World.

1895. A lovely album, containing 74 large original photographs from five trips. These are Berlin 1895, French Alps and Nancy in 1896, Trier in 1897, Interlaken and the Swiss Alps in 1898 and the Tirol in 1899.

The photographs were purchased from prominent commercial photographers of the time. The French photographs are largely from ND Phot, the Swiss from Schroeder & Cie of Zurich and Edition Photoglob.

The majority of the prints are either albumen or early silver gelatin prints. As the early silver gelatin were so similar to albumen it is difficult to tell. There are a number of colourised prints. Most of the prints are quite large, with quite a few as large as 210 mm x 275 mm.
Most are printed one to a page, but a couple of the smaller prints are printed two to a page. One of the images is a double / folding photograph. Album size 27cm x 36cm Un bel album, contenant 74 grandes photographies originales de cinq voyages. La majorité des épreuves sont soit à l'albumine, soit à des épreuves gélatino-argentiques anciennes. Comme la première gélatine d'argent était si semblable à l'albumine, il est difficile de le dire. Il existe un certain nombre d'imprimés colorisés. La plupart des tirages sont assez grands, avec un bon nombre aussi grand que 21 cm x 27,5 cm
La plupart sont imprimés un à une page, mais quelques-uns des plus petits tirages sont imprimés deux à une page. L'une des images est une photographie double / pliante. Taille de l'album 27 cm x 36 cm

Signed with a small doodle of a chained dog to the half title page. 122 pages. Full of colour and black and white images. Almost as new. 290 by 290 mm (11½ by 11½ inches).
Liekens is a Belgian artist, born in 1977, who lives and works between Antwerp and Berlin. Bel exemplaire de ce Catalogue raisonné de l'œuvre de Liekens. Couverture illustrée en couleur. Photographie Frontis de Liekens. Signé d'un petit griffonnage représentant un chien enchaîné sur la page de faux titre. 122 pages. Plein d'images en couleur et en noir et blanc. Liekens est un artiste belge, né en 1977, qui vit et travaille entre Anvers et Berlin.

Colophon shows that this was printed in 786 numbered copies on pure vellum from Papeteries Bellegarde, this copy is n° 88 / 750. These war poems are dated Saint-Alban, 1943 at the end of the text. In excellent condition. The covers are fractionally darkened, but not significantly. Clean and tidy but fractionally darkened throughout. 330 by 250mm (13 by 9¾ inches)

Brest: 1875. First Edition. A lovely leporello of hand coloured lithographs produced by Emile Mage. Original decorated cloth boards with cloth spine. Boards are somewhat rubbed and faded, but overall in sound condition. Publisher's advert to the inside board, but no publication details. 15 pages containing 30 views of Brittany (to one side only). Very nice colouring. A touch of marking to the first page, otherwise very clean. We can find no examples of this publication on OCLC or online. Emile Mage was primarily an artistic photographer, but he also dabbled in objets d'Art, Breton costumes, and - it would seem - lithographed views. 175 x 115 mm (7 x 4½ inches). Première édition. Un joli leporello de lithographies coloriées à la main produite par Emile Mage. Planches en tissu décorées d'origine avec dos en tissu. Les planches sont un peu frottées et décolorées, mais dans l'ensemble en bon état. Annonce de l'éditeur sur le panneau intérieur, mais pas de détails sur la publication. 15 pages contenant 30 vues de Bretagne (une seule face). Très jolie coloration.
