Beautifully executed, would appear to be the original for a book illustration? 16 water and marsh birds are illustrated, including a swan and a flamingo. illustration is on art board and is sized 48cm x 31cm. It is presented under passe partout of 60cm x 40cm. To the bottom edge is a little marking. One of the birds (Grey Heron) has been neatly pasted onto the rest of the image. To the reverse of the passe partout is a photocopy of the artwork with the birds labelled in German. Dittrich, Walter: (1881 Haida - 1976 Rorgenwies/Eigeltingen) German watercolourist and book illustrator.

The committee was created by the Social Democratic Workers Party (SDAP), in cooperation with the International Confederation of Trade Unions and the Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions in 1920. Following the First World war there was much poverty in Austria. The committee arranged for thousands of malnourished children to travel to the Netherlands and stay with foster families for up to 12 weeks to regain their strength. 320 by 250mm (12½ by 9¾ inches).

Caricatures évocatrices montrant la souffrance des travailleurs industriels, en particulier parmi les jeunes. Accompagné d'une lettre de l'un des 50 sous-comités du Comité voor Oostenrijksche Arbeiderskinderen in Nederland. Ce comité a été créé par le Parti ouvrier social-démocrate (SDAP), en coopération avec la Confédération internationale des syndicats et la Confédération néerlandaise des syndicats en 1920.     Chadwick Hansen made an astonishing claim in this book. He asserted that a few of those accused in Salem were actually guilty, and that witches did practice in Salem, some causing real harm to others.
    "There was witchcraft in Salem, and it worked," writes Hansen, who was a former English professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. "There was every reason to regard it as a criminal offense."
    Belief in witchcraft was far from unique to Salem, Hansen argued; it was endemic to Europe at the time and a constant in the English culture that 17th century New England reflected.

    . Un bel exemplaire de cette gravure originale de première édition par LANDERER d'après SCHMIDT. Planche 8 de la série "12 têtes de personnages". 19.5cm x 13cm sur un papier de 29cm x 22cm. Gravure propre et soignée sur papier légèrement assombri, posée sur un support épais. Quelques marques seulement. Détails d'impression à la base de la gravure. Le papier de soutien a un peu de plis et de noircissement sur les bords. Identifiée, nommée et datée à partir d'exemplaires identiques conservés au Philadelphia Museum of Art. Johann Christian Leopold (1699-1755) Éditeur de gravures basé à Augsbourg ; fils de Joseph Friedrich Leopold (q.v.) ; a publié des mezzotintes d'après Piazzetta ; jusqu'en 1760 au plus tôt. Son fils Johann Christian Leopold le Jeune (1729-1779) poursuivit son activité sous le même nom. Ferdinand Landerer (1730 Stein unter der Enns - 1795 Vienne) Graveur.
