Le dos est frotté. L'intérieur de la page de garde comporte une dédicace manuscrite à l'encre d'une église protestante de Hollande du Nord. Une petite partie du coin supérieur droit de la page de garde a été soigneusement découpée. Les pages sont vieillies sur les bords, à cause de la manipulation. The term 'macaroni 'was a pejorative term used to describe a fashionable mid 18th century English man (later this would be known as 'Dandy'). The manuscript is anonymous, and written in a cryptic form. One a sheet folded in to four, one segment is reinforced / backed for strength by another piece of paper. One corner missing (doesn't affect the text). Overall in good condition. 375 x 230 mm (14¾ x 9 inches).

    Chadwick Hansen made an astonishing claim in this book. He asserted that a few of those accused in Salem were actually guilty, and that witches did practice in Salem, some causing real harm to others.
    "There was witchcraft in Salem, and it worked," writes Hansen, who was a former English professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. "There was every reason to regard it as a criminal offense."
    Belief in witchcraft was far from unique to Salem, Hansen argued; it was endemic to Europe at the time and a constant in the English culture that 17th century New England reflected.
