Henry Morenne, as a souvenir of a visit of the author to Richelieu in 1931. All three volumes are bound in half red Morocco with marbled boards. Gilt titles and decoration to the spines. All three are in excellent condition with little handling to the leather and boards, although Volume 1 is a slightly brighter shade of red than the next two volumes. The paper is a high quality glossy paper. Volume 1. 1899. Third edition. This covers the youth of Richelieu 1585-1614. Author's inscription to the front end paper. F.I.J.L - The Iberian Federation of Libertarian Youth in English, was an anarchist youth organisation created in Madrid in 1932 during the Second Spanish Republic. Inquietudes was first published in 1947 in exile in France. This anarchist newspaper / magazine covered a wide range of topics, especially cultural ones, and each issue had a circulation of 2,000 copies, being distributed throughout exile and in the interior of the Iberian Peninsula. This is the third issue.

The binding is in very good condition, with just a touch of rubbing. Internally a clean and tidy copy with just a little darkening to the page edges. Original paper covers are bound in. The work contains 138 reproductions of portraits and prints. L'Aiglon was Napoleon II or Napoleon François Charles Joseph (1811-1832), king of Rome, emperor of the French, prince of Parma, duke of Reichstadt. Although short lived, In 1900, the writer Edmond Rostand paid tribute to him by making him the main character in a play called L'Aiglon. Hence the title of this work the following year. 406 pages. 20cm x 14cm.

Signed dedication to paper cover by the author, Abel Desjardins (1814-1886); a French historian. Desjardins was a professor of history at the Royal College of Angers (1843-1847). Having obtained a doctorate in letters, he was appointed professor of history at the Faculty of Letters in Dijon (1847-1856). In 1856, he transferred to the Faculty of Letters in Caen. In 1858, he was appointed to the Faculty of Letters of Douai where he remained until his death in 1886, holding the deanship during the same period (1858-1886). He was also a lecturer at the Faculty of Sciences in Lille. He was an expert in the history of diplomatic negotiations between France with Tuscany. 14 pages. 240 x 155 mm (9½ x 6 inches).

This may have been intended for the overseas market, as the publisher "Bruna" is written to the base of the spine. 125 full page b/w reproductions of Frasnay's photographs, and corresponding text between. Overall in very good clean condition. A small split to the bottom of the spine has been repaired. 280 x 210 mm (11 x 8¼ inches). Bel exemplaire de cette première édition. Imprimé aux Pays-Bas (texte en français) pour une maison d'édition française. The Second Foreign Legion (also 2nd Foreign Legion, 2nd Foreign Brigade or Swiss Legion) was a Swiss unit within the French Army, created in France by Emperor Napoleon III in early 1855, to participate in the Crimean War. However, the war was over faster than expected. The 2nd Legion was therefore transformed into the 1st Foreign Regiment in 1856 and stationed in Algeria. The unit, wearing a green uniform, retained its Swiss character until 1859. Première édition. Cependant, la guerre s'est terminée plus rapidement que prévu. La 2e Légion est donc transformée en 1er Régiment étranger en 1856 et stationnée en Algérie. The original wrappers are bound in to the front and rear. The leather has a little rubbing to it, with very slight cracking to the front hinge. A little foxing to the end papers. The original covers are beautiful clean examples. The rest of the book is clean and tidy. Engraved frontis of Benjamin Constant aged six years. This copy is on Hollande paper. 130 pages. Benjamin Constant, was a Swiss-French political activist and writer on political theory and religion. First posthumous edition of this autoboiography. Benjamin Constant talks about his studies at the University of Edinburgh, where he met the British philosopher and politician James Mackintosh, as well as the Scottish historian Malcolm Laing. He mentions his stays in Paris with the couple of writers Amélie and Jean Baptiste Antoine Suard, his brief meeting with the future wife of Emmanuel de Pastoret, and details the beginnings of his relationship with Isabelle de Charrière. Louise de Constant de Rebecque, sister of Benjamin Constant 195 by 145mm (7¾ by 5¾ inches). Première édition. Reliure demi cuir bordeaux, avec titres dorés et 6 nerfs. planches marbrées. Marbled end papers. 50 full page plates in colour / sanguine / blue, plus figures in the text in black plus a colour title page. Internally clean and tidy, with a little foxing only. Tissue guards to the plates. There were two versions of this work. a standard edition, with blue percaline boards, and this deluxe edition in three quarter leather and on smooth high quality paper. Louis Vallet served in the cavalry before devoting himself to drawing and painting, particularly horse racing, but also for the theatre. XII, 274, [ii]. pp. 340 x 250 mm (13½ x 9¾ pouces).

Chipping with a little loss to both the top and bottom edge of the spine. Internally, a good, wide margined and clean copy. Title with engraved printer's mark / vignette.
