The map covers the Dauphiné in southeastern France. In the west is the Rhône, and in the east Piemont in Italy. 505 x 580 mm (20 x 22¾ inches). One central fold. The colours are strong and edges are a little delicate. Blank verso. Gravure sur cuivre de Johann Baptist Homann, avec coloration à la main contemporaine. Limited edition of 100 copies, set by hand and with original etchings hand coloured by Tice. This is copy 10/100. Signed by Tice to the limitation. This production was by Falstaff Press for the "choicest Falstaff connoisseurs." Original purple cloth with gilt decoration and titles. A touch of bumping and some fading to the spine but still very presentable. The pages and illustrations are in excellent condition. New York: Scribner And Welford, 1886. First American Edition. Paper covered pictorial boards. Black cloth spine. A touch of bumping to the edges of the boards, and a slight discolouration to the bottom edge. The first few pages have been reinforced with tape at some point, and in the case of the title page, re-attached. The rest of the book is in good, clean condition. The plates are attractive and there is just a touch of darkening to the page edges. 18 lovely lithographs by A. Bichard. 104 pages. 330 by 240mm (13 by 9½ inches).

Philadelphia: Privately printed for the Pierre Louÿs Society, 1926. Scarce in original dust jacket. Limited edition of 990 copies, 930 of which were for sale. This is copy #833. Hardback under wrapper in original gilt stamped pictorial blue cloth. Ten beautiful illustrations by Clara Tice; including the erotic colour frontispiece, and nine other full-page two colour plates with gold and silver highlights. This was first published as 'Les Aventures du roi Pausole' in 1900. The dust wrapper is a lightly soiled, and has one small nick to the front at the top. Overall the dust wrapper, book and contents are all in a very good condition. Some pages remain uncut. As we list it, we can find no other copies of this version for sale online with the original dust wrapper. xv, 327 pp. 240 x 170 mm (9½ x 6¾ inches).

There is an owner's stamp (elephant), and name stamp in Tamil to the half title. Text block is in excellent condition, clean and tidy throughout with just a touch of darkening and a few light foxing spots. Comes with two leaves of facsimile of the story printed on card. York: Thomas Hammond, 1730. First edition. Full leather binding (recently re-backed). Two fold-out engraved plates -- A Plan of the City of York and A View of the City of York., plus text ornaments and vignettes. pp. 256 + addenda, list of subscribers, errata and one page advert to the rear. This is a curious copy, as there is a frontis view of York, as called for, but it appears to be a different view from those in other copies online. The view given here is slightly small that the whole book, and is dedicated to the Right Hon Wm Stephenson, Lord Mayor. Stephenson was the mayor in 1743-4, so this must be a later addition, which also accounts for its brighter appearance. Overall this book is in very nice condition. The binding is a little rubbed, but sound, and the spine is recent. Internally sound, with moderate darkening to the pages. The map of the city has an area where it has worn thin (or label removed?).165 x 100 mm (6½ x 4 inches).

Gent, a printer and antiquary of irascible temperament received praise from DNB, p. 1101, "his topographical publications are still of value and in demand," and further, "His Life is very interesting, and deserves to be reprinted in its entirety........throwing light on manners and habits of the early eighteenth century."

London: The Author by T. Spilsbury, 1794. A decent copy of this First edition. Old (probably not contemporary) full leather boards, with gilt titles. This copy contains a folding plan of the Abbey, and a folding view of the East Prospect of the Abbey (both clean and tidy). There is also a folding map of the Liberty of Furness. This is somewhat creased and has a few small closed tears to it, and a couple of foxing spots. No loss though. Although anonymous, the dedication is signed Thomas West. The leather is somewhat rubbed, with a little loss to the head and tail of the spine - not much though. Internally mainly clean and tidy, with a touch of foxing and a few spots only.
