This poster is mostly black with white text, and advertises a permanent exhibition 'Geteilte Interpretationen Maler sehen die Mauer' - the translation in English is roughly "Shared interpretations. Painters see the wall". Includes five examples of art pieces from the exhibition. In excellent condition. Under glass and in a black frame. 510 x 410 mm (20 x 16¼ inches). Can be sold with or without frame.

The Mauermuseum – Museum Haus am Checkpoint Charlie was founded immediately after the wall that divided Berlin was built and the museum opened its doors in October 1962. It's location was chosen "To be as close as possible to injustice, that's where human greatness unfolds most." according to the museum's founder, Dr. Rainer Hildebrandt. The museum can still be found in Friedrichstrasse in Berlin.

Paulus van Liender / Pierre Fouquet, 1760. First Edition. A very nice engraving of the old church in Amsterdam. Engraved by Paulus van Liender after an original by Jan de Beijer, this was originally printed in 1760. This was later re-printed by Pierre Fouquet in his "Atlas." He produced engravings from 1769, and eventually produced over 100 engravings, so that purchasers could select the prints they wanted and create their own personal collection. The attribution to Beijer / Leander is not shown on this engraving, but the image is identical to the Rijksmuseum holding: RP-P-AO-23-5 - Only the titles differ (including spelling of Gezigt / Gezigt/ This is a nice clean print, with just a couple of small marks to the sheet. good impression. The printed area is 28 cm x 38,5 cm. The sheet is 43cm by 51cm (17 by 20 inches). A touch of edgewear and darkening to the corners of the sheet only

Silver gelatin print, with albumen paper process. Signed in the negative. Studio Stamped. Title written in the negative. Stamp (slightly visible, see image) on verso. This is a print by Tyrrell from negatives from Kerry & Co. There is a copy referenced at the Maas Museum of New South Wales.

The photograph is stamped on back 'TYRRELL'S MUSEUM / OF / ANTIQUES BOOKS & CURIOS / 143 CASTLEREAGH STREET / SYDNEY' 1829 and identified by Smalls auctions in Australia as an early reprint from the original 'Kerry' glass negative. The sepia reprints are likely the working stock of the Kerry Studio that Tyrell acquired along with the original glass negatives.
"Produced by the Sydney firm Charles Kerry & Co. and part of the Powerhouse Museum's Tyrrell collection which contains over 2,900 glass plate negatives by Kerry & Co. Although a few appear to be from the 1880s most were produced between 1892 and 1917. Over this period, and well into the early 1900s, prints from these negatives appeared in many Australian publications and albums of views. In 1903 the company began producing postcards from these negatives, further establishing the images as some of the most significant and best known early views of New South Wales.
Some of the more significant themes covered by the collection include; views of New South Wales, Queensland, country towns, Sydney, Indigenous Australians, the South Pacific, rural life, native flora and fauna, and sentimental views. In addition there are a number of significant events from the 1900s covered by the collection including; Embarkation of troops for the Boer War, Hordens fire and the Inauguration of the Commonwealth in 1901, the arrival of the Great White Fleet and the Burns verses Johnson boxing match at Rushcutters Bay in 1908."

Marseille: 2000. First edition of this limited (500 copies published) exhibition work. The work contains 44 photographs and 44 anaglyphs by Assier. These Stereoscopic images, are viewed using the 3D glasses that came with the book (two are present). The book is warmly signed by Assier with a lengthy gift inscription to a Marseilles gallery owner. In addition, there is the 2001 programme / press information for the Arles photography festival in 2001 - which included an exhibition of Good Mistral. This is also signed by Assier to the gallery owner. Manuscript poems (printed to a thick glassine) are by Michel Butor, the preface is by Edmonde Charles-Roux and the post face by Jean Roudaut. Overall the book is in very good condition, but there is a touch of wear to the outside covers (soft cover). One of the last pages showing his historical exhibitions has become detached, but is still present. Overall a nice signed copy of a scarce photo-book. Unpaginated. 300 x 210 mm (11¾ x 8¼ inches).

London: Howlett and Brimmer, 1816. First edition. A majestic work, showing the renewed Paris of Napoleon in all its glory. Complete. Illustrated with 12 double-page engravings. Panoramic views include: the Military School and the Church of the Invalides; View of Paris from the South Boulevard; View of Paris from Montmartre; South View of the Old and New Louvre; The Mint and The Façade of the Louvre; View of La Place de la Concorde; The Garden of the West Front of the Tuileries; Palace of the Tuileries Facing La Place du Carrousel; Garden of the Tuileries; The Luxembourg or Palais du Senat with the Gardens; The Elysian Fields, Distant Gardens of the Tuileries; Entrance to Les Champs Élysées and La Place de la Concorde. There appear to have been two versions printed. This version - which was the engravings only, There was also another version, printed simultaneously, with letterpress text to one leaf to accompany the smaller engravings (they are about half the size of our engravings). This latter published by Harper & Co. Original paper covered boards. These have black text within a decorated border, and red leather spine. The boards are somewhat rubbed, and have staining to them (particularly the front board). Still sturdy though. Title page, 12 double leaf plates with blank reverse. These are still very attractive, but have some water staining to the edges - particularly of the later pages. This is faded a little, and does not really affect the plates. Conforms to OCLC: 181773865 which FirstSearch records only one library copy at McMaster in California. The original paintings have been attributed to Pierre-Antoine Demachy (1723-1807) left a large number of views of Paris, and who showed a particular interest in Napoleon's major architectural improvements. 430 by 380mm (17 by 15 inches).

Cette dernière a été publiée par Harper & Co. Tableaux originaux recouverts de papier. Le texte est en noir dans une bordure décorée et le dos est en cuir rouge. Les planches sont quelque peu frottées et présentent des taches (en particulier sur la première planche). L'ouvrage est néanmoins solide. Page de titre, 12 planches à double feuille avec un verso vierge. Celles-ci sont encore très attrayantes, mais présentent quelques taches d'eau sur les bords, en particulier sur les dernières pages. Ces taches sont un peu estompées et n'affectent pas vraiment les planches. Conforme à OCLC : 181773865 dont FirstSearch ne signale qu'un seul exemplaire de bibliothèque à McMaster en Californie. Amsterdam: Les Freres Wetstein, 1718. Beautiful engraved double page taken from the First edition (in French) of Le Bruyn's important illustrated account of his voyage to Russia, Persia, India and Java.
The book is arguably the best authority for costumes of the era in the countries visited. This double page shows the costumes typical of 'Homme Persan' and 'Dame Persanne'. In a very good condition for its age. Some very small closed tears to edges. Blank on verso.

Most of the plates were published by Furne, but other publishers are also represented. The are listed in manuscript to the front of the collection. They include 54 by Alfred & Tony Johannot, 3 by Raffet, Others by Schoeder, Pourvoyeur, Nyon, Lemaitre, Auber, & Perrot. Each is protected by a tissue guard. 174 pages, 84 engraved images to recto only. The engravings come from a variety of works, several are from Sir Walter Scott's work, (which has given dating) others from the Histoire de la Marine Francaise. The binding is clean, but has the beginnings of splitting to the top edge. Slight rubbing to the edges of the binding. The engravings are in good, clean condition, with a touch of foxing to them. 250 by 175mm (9¾ by 7 inches). Reliure demi-cuir, avec titres et décors dorés aux étiquettes bordeaux. Plats marbrés bleus. Réunies, 84 gravures, issues d'œuvres diverses. La plupart des planches ont été éditées par Furne, mais d'autres éditeurs sont également représentés. Les sont répertoriés dans le manuscrit à l'avant de la collection. Parmi eux, 54 d'Alfred & Tony Johannot, 3 de Raffet, d'autres de Schoeder, Pourvoyeur, Nyon, Lemaitre, Auber, & Perrot. (Including "Nieuwe Kaart van de Eilanden van Groot Brittannien behelzende De Koningryken Engeland, Schotland en Ierland [..]", ca. 32,5 x 37,5 cm.; "Nieuwe Kaart van Ierland", ca. 34 x 27,5 cm. & "NIEUWE KAART VAN DE GROOTBRITTANNISCHE VOLKPLANTINGEN IN NOORD AMERICA [..]", ca. 36,5 x 45,5 cm.), 1 fold. engraved map of London & surroundings ("Kaart van Londen [..]", ca. 28 x 41,5 cm.). The are also 6 folding engraved views (of London) by J.C. Philips et al. including 1 which depicts 2 views of London. There is also an engraved portrait of King George II by J. Houbraken after A. Schouman. 8vo (ca. 20 x 12 cm.), 18th century uniform gilt calf, gilt ribbed spine with 2 contrasting labels with titles, marbled edges. A profusion of gilt to the spines! Both vols possibly lack a divisional title (of the second part), but texts are complete. A few minor imperfections (foot of spine of vol. I slightly damaged / chipped, bindings slightly rubbed/ worn along extremities, 1 fold. map. slightly torn in outer blank margin, a little foxed/ browned), but nevertheless an attractively bound set in good condition.
