Half leather binding with gilt decoration and titles to the spine. Marbled boards. A touch of bumping / handling only. Marbled end papers. Internally mainly clean and tidy, with a little marking / darkening to the pages. French and Latin facing pages help with the translation / reading of the text. Originally published in 1827, this was abridged from a longer Latin primer by Lhomond. Overall an attractive copy of this reprint. Charles François Lhomond (1727–1794) was a French priest, grammarian, and educator who was a native of Chaulnes, Somme. [iv], 182. pp. 140 by 90mm (5½ by 3½ inches).

These volumes came from the St Birgittae de Sion (Bridgettine) monastery at Chudleigh in Devon. They were donated to the Abbey (and each has an inscription stating this) by the Rev. Benedict Williamson. Wiliamson was a prominent Catholic Architect, and supporter of the Bridgetinnes. He was ordained a priest in 1909 and was behind many of the finest early 20th Century Catholic Churches.

*Acta Apostolicae Sedis (Latin for "Acts of the Apostolic See"), often cited as AAS, is the official gazette of the Holy See, appearing about twelve times a year. It was established by Pope Pius X on 29 September 1908 with the decree Promulgandi Pontificias Constitutiones, and publication began in January 1909. It contains all the principal decrees, encyclical letters, decisions of Roman congregations, and notices of ecclesiastical appointments. The laws contained in it are to be considered promulgated when published, and effective three months from date of issue, unless a shorter or longer time is specified in the law

London: George Allen & Unwin Ltd, 1954. First edition (UK Edition). Ruth Herschberger, an American biologist and poet, wrote this work exposing the masculine bias in biology. In the UK this was published under a pseudonym. "One of the most unapologetically feminist works of its time" (Shira Tarrant "When sex became gender"). Today, it is surprisingly scarce. Original dust wrapper. Clean and tidy, with just a few tiny areas of edgewear. Pale blue boards are in excellent condition. Book itself is clean and tidy throughout, with just the odd foxing spot. 224 pages. 200 by 140mm (7¾ by 5½ inches).

Hardback cover is rather rubbed with a little nicking and edge wear. There is a school / library stamp to title page. Now held under a removable plastic laminate. A few light marks inside. Overall a good copy of this uncommon children's book. 46 pages. 310 by 240mm (12¼ by 9½ inches). Première édition. Nombreuses illustrations en couleurs et en noir et blanc dans et hors texte. La couverture cartonnée est plutôt frottée avec une petite entaille et une usure des bords. Il y a un tampon école/bibliothèque sur la page de titre. Maintenant maintenu sous un stratifié en plastique amovible. Quelques légères traces à l'intérieur. Dans l'ensemble, un bon exemplaire de ce livre pour enfants peu commun. 46 pages. 310 par 240 mm

In the mid 19th century, Bilbille went from Paris to Leipzig fair, via the fabric producing towns of Mulhouse and Saint-Gall, buying and selling fabric samples. This original hand embellished advertising poster has been created to promote an industrial collaboration. It shows a fashionable female of the time in a dress which has been highlighted in places with a lighter colour. We have not been able to find anything else like this online or in auction records. Could it be it was a one-off? In frame, under glass. Size of image: 595 x 470 mm (23½ x 18½ inches).

Au milieu du XIXe siècle, Bilbille se rend de Paris à la foire de Leipzig, en passant par les villes productrices de tissus de Mulhouse et Saint-Gall, achetant et vendant des échantillons de tissus. Cette affiche publicitaire originale embellie à la main a été créée pour promouvoir une collaboration industrielle. Il montre une femme à la mode de l'époque dans une robe qui a été rehaussée par endroits d'une couleur plus claire. Nous n'avons pas été en mesure de trouver autre chose comme cela en ligne ou dans les dossiers d'enchères. Se pourrait-il que ce soit une pièce unique ? Dans cadre, sous verre. Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Company, Inc, 1972. First edition. In original price clipped dust jacket. An anthology of 46 specially written original science fiction short stories from 42 writers - including Dean Koontz, Ray Bradbury, Ursula K. Le Guin, Gregory Benford and many more. Illustrated in b/w by Ed Emshwiller. Dust jacket is in a good condition with only minor shelf wear, and one very small chip to top at front. Inside, the book is very clean and fresh. Previous owner's gift message in pen to half title. Overall a great copy of the sequel to Ellison's speculative fiction collection from five years previous: Dangerous Visions. The book jacket's description closes by saying "This book takes off where Dangerous Visions stopped and it is a better book than Dangerous Visions". 830 pages. 225 x 145 mm (8¾ x 5¾ inches).

Six original etchings engraved in black and burins et maniér noires by Albert Woda, and 6 full-page calligraphic interleaves by Franck Lalou. Limited edition of 70 numbered copies on Rives vélin paper for text and natural Arakaji japon for calligraphy, signed by both Woda and Lalou. One of 50 copies numbered from 8 to 57, this is number 24. Silk covering the book has become detached in some areas, and has some stains. Internally the book very good, except for one plate which has stains to it. Each plate is additionally signed in the margin by Woda. Première édition. Petit quarto oblong. Slight bowing to the front board. Blue cloth spine. Unpaginated. Title, memorial to Dr Maurice Casternan - the secretary general of l'association des Ancients Internes until his death in 1933. Frontis illustration showing the Ball of 1933 (a rather rowdy party!). Each hospital in the Paris region is then celebrated with photographs of the medical staff at each, and with their names below. The photographs are taken by Pierre Petit. (They are here printed, rather than tipped in). Often there is also a photograph of the hospital itself. Internally clean and tidy throughout. An excellent example 230 x 320 mm (9 x 12½ inches). Relié à l'origine, planches recouvertes de fausse peau de crocodile avec titres dorés. Une touche de frottement sur les bords du plat avant. Depicting hunting scenes, each with captions in French, followed by six leaves of fanfares (text and music printed to one side of leaf only). A scarce item, none for sale and only occasionally at auction. Moderate foxing throughout. Creasing to front free endpaper. In contemporary buckram binding with slight rubbing to the binding. Première édition. 24 planches de scènes de chasse, chacune avec légendes en français, suivies de six feuillets de fanfares (texte et musique imprimés sur un seul côté du feuillet). Un article rare, aucun à vendre et seulement occasionnellement aux enchères. Des rousseurs modérées partout. Pliage à l'avant de la page de garde libre.
